I got this game at an 80% discount for $2 USD since someone said it has heavy Thaumcraft vibes, and I was excited to get started delving into a bunch of research on new things I hadn't seen before. Well, let's just say that this game deserves its mixed ratings.

It feels like they took some lore (which is good, the science actually makes sense) and tried to turn this idea into a game, but they didn't know the first thing about how to design a good game.

When you die randomly to something you can't even see and the game makes it clear that the default experience is hardcore because the game is supposed to be easy enough, but then they go out of their way to make everything easy EXCEPT for this one encounter with NO notification that you're low on health?

"Alcor has claimed you." No death sequence, just a fade to black after you get hit by something that does 60+ damage out of nowhere while everything else has been doing 3-5 damage, and no, I'm not exaggerating. Worms do low damage and even lower poison damage. The scary Ossi's you fight? Only take you down by 1/3 of your total health during the entire fight while you just sit there and hold the F key to attack them. Speaking of combat...

Combat? What combat? You literally hold a key and your character chases and attacks the enemy automatically. There's no strategy. You can't "hit and run" either. Trust me, I tried. It's stats vs. stats. Resource gathering? Hold this key, and your character automatically collects all nearby resources, finding the closest one that you can harvest and harvesting it. You just... Hold a button. Just like combat. I get adding QoL things, but this? It's too much. Makes the game that much less fun.

Oh yeah, you'll also get constant notifications every 30 seconds that "I don't feel so good". Every time you pick something up, you get a "This resource did this thing," or "Your physical training allows you to pick up more!"... Every, single, time. Without fail. You numb yourself to any notifications that might actually be important, which, of course, during my gameplay, there wasn't any.

The developers have a great idea. I just really wish it was executed better. If you end up playing this game, do NOT follow their suggestions to play on Adventure mode. You don't want to get halfway through the game and lose everything due to poor design choices.

EDIT: Playstation realized they angered the internet and reversed their decision. The next paragraphs no longer apply and the review has been changed to be positive... Tentatively, since there are still major bugs in the game.

I don't write reviews often. This? This is something I'll write a review about.

Sure, the TOS did state that a PSN account was going to be required, but for the game to be sold in countries that can't even make a PSN account? That's completely ridiculous.

The fact that we weren't required to make one when we first played the game was awesome and made me really like the direction they were taking with the game. But time and time again, more bugs have cropped up without them being fixed, up to and including full crashes with no easy way to get back into the same mission with the same people you were playing with. It made me slowly stop playing the game. Now with this recent requirement of a PSN account?

I'm done. Secure the sale, then extract as much value as you can from your customer. That mentality is evil, plain and simple. I refuse to support it.

Early Access Review
I work at a university that demo's the latest tech and finds ways of using said tech to teach students in new and innovative ways. Even in Early Access, this game has been my go-to for demonstrating real-time physics within VR. You can really get a good workout, too!

Magic, weapons, open mod support, and (eventually) a leveling system, all in VR? Can you even get better than this? Maybe, but this is absolutely by far the best I've found yet! Absolutely well worth the money. This could end up rivaling AAA title games, and I'm happy to be along for the journey.

Just how I remember the game way back when, just with improved audio and uncapped limits.

If you're a fan of RTS and want to see the roots again, then give this one a go.

Very short game with hand-drawn styled graphics and a down-to-earth believable story. Cute, haunting, and makes you want to replay it to try and get that best ending.

Though I personally dislike games which contain references to gays, lesbians, and the like (nothing against the people, just personal taste), I enjoyed this visual novel more than I thought I would. I'm glad I played it to completion.
