Really good port for a Final Fantasy game and I hope they put this attention into future PC releases. I'm loving my time with it so far. Official ultrawide support + uncapped cutscene support would be welcome, but a mod already exists that works beautifully for these features.

The game itself: Initially I wasn't sure I'd like a more action-focused entry that ditches some of the franchise's more strategic roots, but I'm okay with them trying something different here. The boss fights in this game are big and bombastic. The story and characters are solid, especially Cid. I like that Final Fantasy has never been afraid to shake up the combat.

Did you know James Gunn of Guardians of the Galaxy fame made this game (in combination with Suda51)? You can certainly tell: it's over the top and awesomely ridiculous. Runs great on the Steam Deck but you need to copy+paste some settings into a .ini file currently (google it) because by default it sets the graphics settings too high and there are no in-game options to change it. After the change it runs at 60fps easily. On a more powerful PC, runs great out of the box no changes needed. Offers a "RePop" mode that cuts out some of the gore, an original mode, which is mostly the same just more zombie guts. Silly action game with a lot of humor. They don't really make games like this anymore.

Dungeons of Hinterberg Review: Cozy Swiss Alps Adventure with Just the Right Amount of Challenge

I just wrapped up Dungeons of Hinterberg and I gotta say, this one’s a solid gem. At a very high level, it's bite-sized Zelda-style dungeoneering blended with Persona style social elements. All while on a vacation in the Swiss Alps. Oh and there is some snowboarding too.

It hits that sweet spot where you can dive into a relaxing, cozy gameplay loop, but still feel engaged the whole time. The game blends exploration, puzzle-solving, combat, and upgrades via friendship rewards in a way that feels super rewarding without ever feeling overwhelming.

The level design here is top-notch. Every dungeon and area had a logical progression that never required me to look anything up online. That’s a huge plus in my book, because the puzzles and environments were challenging enough to keep me on my toes without resorting to tedious backtracking or getting stuck. The difficulty in combat is just right too—not too easy to make you feel like you’re coasting, but not too tough to make you want to throw your controller across the room. It’s a nice balance that makes it feel satisfying.

As for the story, it’s not groundbreaking, but it’s solid enough to keep you invested. I found myself caring about the characters and the world, and that’s all you really need in a game like this. It’s not trying to rewrite the book on storytelling, but it does enough to keep you moving forward.

That said, there are a few nitpicks. Some side characters just didn’t hit the mark for me. They felt a little flat or one-dimensional, and I didn’t really find myself bonding with them. Also, the armor upgrade system is a bit limited. It’s functional, but not as deep as I’d have liked it to be, especially when you’re looking to optimize for tougher challenges.

I’s a fantastic game for the Steam Deck. It’s perfect for short play sessions while chilling on the couch or taking a break between other games. The dungeons each take on average 20-45 minutes, so it's very easy to just do one dungeon per session. There are 25 in the game and you can do them in a fairly open order, barring the harder ones that require better gear.

It took me about 28 hours to finish, but I’m definitely going back for more to snag the remaining achievements. That's pretty rare for me, so it's a good indicator that it was an above-average experience for me.

If you’re looking for a cozy, well-designed adventure that doesn’t overstay its welcome, Dungeons of Hinterberg is worth your time. I hope we get a sequel.

The king of 4X turn based strategy games, and a blast with a group of friends. Just one more turn.

I really liked this game when it launched, then fell off because I'm too casual of a player to deal with seasonal resets. Now that they offer a "permanent" mode, I can once again recommend it. It's a unique game that maybe tries to do a bit too much (Palworld + Destiny + Fallout 76 + DayZ) but I find it to be unique and honestly quite fun either solo or with friends.

I have over 100 hours on this game, but just recently picked it up on Steam. Best WW2 shooter on here, in my opinion. The campaign is weaker than those of BF3, BF4, Hardline, or even BF1 but still provides a good enough time if you are just in it for that. But the multiplayer is where its at, and this game definitely nails that feel of being on a WW2 battlefield. Sniping feels really satisfying. That "plink" effect when you land a distant headshot will keep you coming back.

Unlike CoD, the Battlefield series doesn't assault us by releasing the same game every year, and therefore they feel more distinct. Definitely give it a look; it has lots of players still (well over 100K active at the time of writing, 6 years after release).

Simply put, SoulCalibur 6 is my favorite fighting game ever made, and not just because both Geralt of Rivia and 2B are in it (though that certainly helps). I love love love this series for both its singleplayer and multiplayer gameplay, and I hope we can get a 7th game one day.

While it hasn't yet hit the highs that I've experienced with Diablo 3 (or rather, what D3 ultimately became), I can say that this is a great game. If you just play the campaign and never experience the seasonal endgame loop, you're missing out IMO. Scratches a very different itch than the comparatively slower (but still solid) campaign route. When you get to high end stuff I feel like it becomes a different game.

There just aren't really any modern games that scratch the same itch as the classic Tomb Raider games, and this polishes up the first 3 to make them a much better experience in modern times. The level design and precision platforming still holds up; I haven't had to look up too many guides so far. Controls take getting used to. I actually prefer the new "modern" controls, but they aren't explained very well so look that up--or learn the original tank controls if you're feeling brave.

Definitely a good pickup if you want to experience one of the first and most iconic 3D video game series. Amazing on Steam Deck. Battery lasts eons at full 90fps.

New update is fire. Best time to check out the game. Freshest arena FPS in years. Has received some nice updates since launch. New team deathmatch mode is a lot of fun, and a personal favorite of mine is Terminal Attack too. Destructibility of structures is unrivaled. Feels great and plays great no matter what input device you use. Works on the Steam Deck too.
