Okay. I think most people who are reviewing this game actually have no idea how far Quake 2 has gotten in the Open Source world. This remaster is another disappointing pile of crap. The game feels HORRIBLY as an online experience. I used to play high level Quake 2 from 1998 to 2002 including top Polish clans. Do yourself a favor and do some googling for "Open Source Quake 2 clients" to truly live a "REMASTERED" experience. This one absolutely blows and I've requested a refund after 18 minutes. Literally a joke.

Great game with tons of potential. All we need is more player volume and decent eSports coverage.

I wish I had tried this series earlier.

They've dropped the ball a long time ago with this game, and they keep making more and more mistakes. The only way this game to survive is to make it free to play. I believe I've spent something like $50 in the day to purchase it. It was maybe worth $5 tops. Injecting bots into the game made me quit right away. Never coming back.

Early Access Review
I am very, very sad to see where Quake has gone. I had to uninstall the game after literally just 5 minutes of gameplay not to become enraged. I have been playing Quake since 1998, with the onset of Quake 2. I had played Quake 2 for 5 years before I moved to QuakeWorld (Quake 1) in 2003. Whenever a new Quake version came out I played it. The last playable instalment of Quake was Quake Live.

When I came to this I could not believe my eyes. The menu was already a good sign to tell me how utterly garbage the game was going to be. Loot boxes? Classes? 'XP' boost? What happened to the competitive online FPS game that it once used to be?

It already is some testament as to how bad the game has become that it became free on Steam.

I hope they close it soon, so that Quake's name is not tainted by this ridiculous pile of garbage.

I'm sure if Carmack was still in Id software he'd not have allowed for such an abomination to come out to the market.
