Early Access Review
I bought the game and played it for 9 hours straight because it was so good. I don't really think I need to explain much more in a review than that.

Started off pretty strong but the devs have their heads so far up their own butts that they have probably run out of oxygen in there and have made nothing but braindead decisions since launch.
Forcing people to use a PSN account is the last nail in the coffin, as it shows their priorities are not on things essential to the game like 'fixing bugs' or 'making all the weapons and stratagems fun to use', but instead on the bottom line - squeezing as much money as possible out of the end users via data collection.

Plus they nerf all the fun weapons in the Premium Content Warbonds that cost 10 dollars a week or two after releasing them, which is more or less the exact same thing Riot Games did with League of Legends - release a new shiny toy that is way too strong, everyone pays REAL money to use it, then nerf it into the ground so that it doesn't disrupt the game for too long.

Gun balance is really bad, the SMGs are the only ones worth using, and if you aren't playing the medic class you might as well not be playing the game. Movement in the game is really weird and janky and is abused by sweaty players to make them unhittable.
Vehicles are useless.
In short, it's all the bad aspects of modern CoD and modern Battlefield, but mixed together into one mess instead of two messes.

This is literally the worst gacha game I have ever played in my entire life, and I hate gacha games with a passion. Everything wrong with pay to win games like World of Tanks and War Thunder is exemplified in this game's systems, on top of having a ton of 'noob trap' options in the game.

Much like the previously mentioned games, GBO has levels for your gear.

For example, you can get various Mobile Suits at different levels. You would think getting say, Sazabi Level 4 would be a great thing, right? No, it's actually terrible, since that suit is meant for playing in a score rating much lower, but because you got the level 4 version, it's rating is 100-200 points higher than what it actually is, with only paltry stat buffs being given by the higher levels. You are intentionally gimping your team by playing these suits, as they are not strong enough to handle 'Level 1' suits of the appropriate ranking.

On top of this, the game's controls are clunky and bad. They aren't complicated to understand, and the game provides tutorials for most of the movement and combat mechanics, but everything about the game feels awful to move around in...

Except if you're playing as the 'Raid Suits'. The game has some stupid rock-paper-scissors style system with Support, General, and Raid classes. None of that matters though, since if you aren't playing a raid suit (or a general suit that just functions like a raid suit) you've already lost. Raid suits have incredible mobility, ranged stun weapons (often bazookas or lasers for even easier aiming), and the ability to melee combo. Melee combos are the number one way to get a kill in this game because it stuns your opponent for 5+ seconds, allowing you to follow up with another slow melee attack that also will knock them down for an additional several seconds of stun.

This problem is pervasive across all levels of suit, but apparently isn't as bad in the toppest tier (700) but apparently that tier is terrible anyway since it just becomes beamspam. Even all the way down in 300 you will find yourself getting shot once by a mech called the Efreet (the sweaty tryhard unit of choice for that rating, from what a veteran player told me) and then dashed into by it, and locked into a 6000+ damage melee combo. Your suits in this rating generally have around 10-14k health, so you are guaranteed to die. Gundam Evolution is another dead Gundam game that suffered from this exact same issue with the Zaku 2 Melee, the Exia, and the Barbatos mechs absolutely dominating every single match for similar reasons.

I'm not even going to discuss support suits or general suits since most of them are useless, but at least they sometimes have cool guns. You won't get to use them for their intended purposes though, as almost every single Raid suit also has abilities that allow them to ignore hit stun as long as they are dashing/using high speed movement. So the one way you actually have to try and slow them down simply doesn't work.

Avoid this game. ♥♥♥♥ on this game. Don't let anyone convince you it is worth playing, it's not. The community at least acknowledges that Raid suits are a problem but don't seem to care all that much, as the game is pretty dead already, having gone from over 100k players to under 5k in just a week or so.

Devs abandoned the game and sold it to Gearbox. It had potential but they let their greed and laziness get to them.

Immediately after releasing an extremely half-baked and definitely incomplete DLC, which mostly just made the game worse by adding obnoxious enemies and bad items, they announce that the game isn't getting anything else and sold it over to Gearbox, then proceeded to announce a remake of the first game.

Genuinely baffling how what was such a good dev team got to this point.

Normally I don't bother with steam reviews but this game is so fantastic that it deserves one. I also rarely ever write a review in a genuine way, but this game may be one of the first games I played in 2023, but it is EASILY one of the best games I have played not only this year, but every in my history of gaming..

Bought it and immediately played through it all the way in just 2 days.
Literally everyone should play this.

You are incapable of interacting with anything in the game without punching it.

The game started out promising but the devs have refused to fix the problems with the combat over time, same ♥♥♥♥ as Chivalry.

The best entry in the EDF series so far. D3 always manages to make stuff better.
Only negative is that there is no Ravager Research Expert Ohara.

Civ V is better. Don't buy this in it's current state.
