Early Access Review
I'm a sucker for synthwave so I'm the market for this game, but man it's so relaxing to just sit back and listen to come good tunes while driving dangerously fast

Arcane studios hits this out of the park; not only are the graphics much improved compared to Dishonored 1, but the story and level design have also been improved and tightened up. Each level offers many opportunities and paths to different play styles; You can blaze your way through killing guards or spend your time and plan out how to proceed with total stealth.

Moreover, as Noah Caldwell-Gerrvais pointed out in his wonderful retrospective youtube video on the Dishonored series, Dishonored 2 present a completely lived-in world that shows that Arcane studios poured love into the aesthetics of the world all the way down to furniture and art. It's the little things that really make you want to soak up every aspect of the world as your proceed though it.

After finishing Prey on an initial run in just under 20 hours (and not completing a lot of side-objectives) I can't say I'm disapointed with the game, but it wasn't as spectacular as Arcane's flagship series, Dishonored. The game is far more of an open world (within limits) exploration RPG, which means that the level design is not as tight and polished as in Disonored 2, but by no means bad.

I really wish Steam offered a halfway option for game recommendations, as while I wouldn't say "don't buy this game", I can't say it's anything over and above Disonored 2. Pick it up on a sale if you do.

This may be the most perfect modern take on the 8 bit side scroller. The level design is sound, the controls and enemy balance is fun, and most importantly, you have to start the ENTIRE game over if you lose all your lives.

The game has become less than good; You'd be much better off buying a good game like CK2

You'll be hard pressed to find a better (let alone any other) game set during histories most exiting period. So your duty and plant the Queen's Colours in faraway lands, bringing glory to yourself and your country and civilization to the dark continent! Where Crusader Kings II can be called an assassination simulator, and Europa Universalis IV a map painting sim, Victoria II could very well be labelled as an economic game at heart, with conquest simply serving to supply your nation with what it needs to conquer more land for more resources for more land to gain more resources to...you get the picture. That is not to say it is stale in any way, far from it! Victoria II will give you hours upon hours of enjoyment. Heartily Recommended.

I will add that to get the most out of this game, both "A House Divided" and "Heart of Darkness" are absolutely necessary, they not only fix a great deal of issues with the game but make colonizing a much more immersive and challenging task and sure to bring all the more glory to your Queen and Country!
