There's no way I've spent this many hours in SteamVR, I haven't even spent this much time in VR across all possible platforms in my entire life... and I tried "VR" in the 90's.

SteamVR is kinda buggy and this is one example of its many issues. Sometimes it fails to recognize that I have a headset connected, even though other VR apps work just fine.

Still, it gets the job done, and works okay most of the time. I guess I can recommend it but keep in mind I actually have closer to ~100 hours total using SteamVR, the number shown with this review is totally incorrect.

I have 700 hours in this game and I've never made it beyond the orbit of Minmus. Every second of those 700 hours was incredible fun. I haven't even experienced 10% of what this game can be, not to mention what it becomes with mods, and already I have more than enough to keep myself occupied.

This game is huge and challenging and I love it.

*Update 2 years and 1200 hours later:
I can't stop playing this game. It's fantastic, and the only 4X game to have ever captured my attention for this long. While I do take breaks and play other games, inevitably I will return to Stellaris.

This game is imaginative, complex, infinitely novel, and has depths that continue to be explored. When combined with mods, this game can become your ideal space-fantasy simulator/story generator.

Every update continues to grow the vanilla game and expand on its existing playstyles, as well as create an overall more interesting, engaging, and awesome experience.

The only reasons I ever stop playing are because an update broke all my mods/my current save, a new game came out, or I got an itch to return to RimWorld or KSP.

I'll never get tired of playing.

Original Review:

I've played this game since shortly before it came out, and every single update/expansion has done nothing but improve on an already amazing base game.

The recent updates especially have brought me back after a long break - the FTL changes actually make travelling the galaxy more meaningful, as opposed to before when star systems really didn't matter because anyone could go anywhere. The performance optimisations, additional features and content, AI re-works... everything is very well done.

I can't wait to see what comes next!

I was a bit wary of this game, since the entire reason I enjoyed Homeworlds 1, 1.5, and 2 was due to, y'know, spaceships in space.

However, as many others have said, this game somehow feels just like Homeworld, and is just as fun. Highly recommend it for any Homeworld fan.
