I went into this knowing that a lot of people who like the same games I do really enjoyed this game. Thankfully, that's all I knew about it. I whole heartedly echo their sentiment. Very good game. I enjoyed it a lot.

If you're expecting SnowRunner, but with the ability to clear/build roads, this isn't that. I'm hoping the demo is the game on easy mode, and the full release will have some options to make it a bit more difficult. Right now the lack of damage and fuel make exploring a nonissue. Also the ability to just teleport across the map into a different vehicle really removes a lot of the logistical juggling you have to do in previous "Runner" games.

There also is some ability to have the AI do things for you, which I suppose is nice if you're playing this single player, but the group I played the demo with found it cumbersome and once again kind of against the spirit of what we've come to expect from these games.

As it stands the actual driving around and getting unstuck, flipped back over, etc is pretty trivial. I'm not sure that completing a section of road with all the different things listed above has the same satisfaction as simply getting a logtruck out of the absolute disaster of a quagmire you've got it in - low on fuel, parts falling off, and you can't engage AWD because you don't want do blow through all the fuel. That was a blast.

This was a good time with friends. We got through the demo in about 3 hours, and we weren't blitzing through it. As I said, I'm really hoping this demo was to gather some data about what people enjoyed/didn't enjoy and not a reflection of the completed design process. In an effort to keep that hope alive I'm not going to recommend this right now. It's a bit too watered down for me, despite some cool things throw in there.

Give me SnowRunner with missions and the ability to clear/build roads and I'll be happy.

The update killed my decks, match making with a friend now is a nightmare - you can't have the same card in your decks, but there isn't a way to see what cards you have in common without navigating through two separate parts of the UI and just remembering what the issue was. I really enjoyed this to kill some time, but now it's basically unplayable in it's current state. Shame.

If you like exploration and/or puzzle games, this will be your jam. Can't recommend enough. Go in blind.

7/10 because of some issues and design decisions.

The game is hard. It’s great. If you were looking for/wanting a Star Wars arcade game, this isn’t for you. There is plenty of other stuff for you to play, so please stop complaining about something that has been labeled a sim since the first press release.

The caveat to this is that I've yet to play MP. I did the opening missions and then spent some time tooling around in the MP practice mode vs AI. I’ve enjoyed my time so far and I think that once I get the hang of flying in space vs flying in atmosphere it should be a good time with friends. That said there are some issues I have already.

1. You have to click through 5 menus to get to the menu to rebind controls. That's 10 menus in and out whenever you want to change something.
2. No TrackIR support. A real big miss here. If you're serious about driving/flying sims and offer VR, there isn't any reason not to have TrackIR.
3. It only registers axis binds once you max out the binding. What this means is that I can’t use my rudder pedals for yaw control because going right decrements the axis from neutral and it won’t register.
4. Where did rear radar go? In X-Wing v TIE Fighter, X-Wing, and TIE Fighter, ships had 2 radar screens. One for the front half of 3D space, another for the rear half. For some inexplicable reason we've regressed and only have forward facing radar now. Is someone directly behind you lining you up? No idea, their radar signature is on the edge of the screen with every other contact behind you.
5. I’m concerned about the balance of TIEs vs Alliance ships. “Being more maneuverable” doesn’t cut it when everything in the game can throttle down and turn 180° in less than 2 seconds.

Realistically #1 is only an issue while you try and set up your binds. #2 is a huge miss imo. I flat out don’t understand why #3 is a problem. That seems like something someone overlooked. #4 is a design decision. I get it, but I’m not a fan. #5 we’ll see in due time.

One of the best single player experiences I've had in years. I'd recommend going into this game knowing next to nothing. I managed to avoid finding out anything about it, and I think it was a much better experience for it.

Maybe one of the best single player games I've played in years. It is fantastic. The difficulty curve is great, boss fights are fun, you actually notice that you're getting better at the game. It's great. Devs, do more of this please.

TTS has easily been on of the best "bang for your buck" games I've ever purchased. The workshop content is amazing, it's a great way to be able to prototype game designs, and play board games with people all over the world. My brothers and friends can now continue to have board game night despite living in seperate states. Awesome. Easily worth $60. Easily.

Early Access Review
This game already came out September 13th, 2011. It's called Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad.

To be fair, that may be tarnishing RO2's name a bit, because there wasn't any money grabbing upgrading to be done. Especially in a Beta. Betas are for testing and fixing things, not trying to squeeze every dime out of a players wallet.

The only thing that I see this game attempting to do (other than air combat, which from what I've played, is terrible) that RO2 didn't do is have a persistent on going war. That's it. RO2 does everything else this game is trying to do only about 10,000x better.

My only other comment that could be considered helpful is this - the M1 is more or less what won the war. The ability to throw down accurate fire at a higher rate of fire than the K-98. So why in the world do you allow the German players to pretty much skip over the K-98 and all buy Gewer 43s? It wasn't even in production until, you guessed it, 1943, and even then it was a rarity. Only 400k of them were made, compared to the millions of K-98s that were floating around. Giving pretty much all the German players access to this rifle negates any advantage the US has in terms of firepower, which is unbelievable to me.

WWII Nazi war doctrine revolved around MGs, not semi auto rifles that, oh, by the way, aren't actually semi auto. The rate of fire of a M1 should be "as fast as you can reacquire a target and click the mouse" not "until the timer we built into the game lapses."

It irks me that this game has any kind of following while a superior game (RO2) sits with empty servers.

I'd honestly like to hear from a Dev what differences there is supposed to be between this an RO2. Because honestly I feel like they're just trying to grab some money from WWII fans.

Few games have brought back the feeling of being a child. I think this game does a good job with it - from the adventure, to the characters, the enviroments and the puzzles, it all reminded me of being that kid out in the woods playing again. It made me miss that feeling. A lot. I think that anyone that has siblings - younger or older - that shared a childhood together should give this a play. It'll remind you of what is important.

On a less sentimental note; I do think that $15 may be a bit much for a 3-ish hour game.
