So at the moment I can say that the game is ok but its not something thats totally blowing my mind. WIth that said though I'm definitely willing to go back later if they make improvements later on down the line since I see this as a game that has some serious potential here to be great. So i'll just do some pros and cons but keep in mind though that this is an initial reaction to the first few hours of the game:

Pros:
-Beautiful game. Lovely 2d art style that compells me to move forward and explore. I especially really love the water reflections as I move through the world.
-Building up a small encampment and seeing it grow larger can be satisfying.
-The perspective of just being one person on a horse.

Cons:

-Way to simple.
I do not mean this as saying that there is no depth but as a way of saying that it compromises the ability to actually adapt to your surroundings around you. Buildings can only be placed in fixed spots and though you can upgrade defensive towers, you can't choose where to place them. I think the best way to improve this is to give players more choice to be able to choose where to plop down towers and walls and your starting area. I think it's reasonable though to have certain things fixed in place like mills/farms however.

-Limited choices in terms of commanding others.
It bugged me that I was not able to tell my subjects to come follow me and follow my orders. Especially when there were moments were I clearly had tools that needed to be picked up but the villager just idled there. I should at least in some capacity be able to command my subjects and tell them where they must go. I would prefer to have the ability to command my subject in some way to follow, attack or be assigned to something specific, but at the same time also be able to let them go and do what they will.

-Roles are permenant.
Considering the limited number of units you can recruit I would like to be able to reassign roles to certain units so as to have greater level of control over my characters. I feel that with too much automation I do not have the control that I want to be able to reassign units especially in the early game when it especially matters.

-Too much emphasis on deliberate minimalism:
From what I can tell this seems to be a deliberate design choice that doesn't seem to work all that well entirely. The initial tutorial doesn't seem shy about telling you what to do at first with dialogue but after that it all just seems to go away and you're left to figure things for yourself without much feedback telling you what to do. When I first started playing the game I had no idea you were to build a boat and sale for new lands and i only found out about that after a third playthrough. I think it would benefit this game to not be afraid to use dialogue to tell you what you need to do and what roles your subjects and buildings play in the world.

Just to continue on the minimalism point its especially frustrating to not be able to manage and control your steeds stamina meter. Sometimes I'd be sprinting across only to have it unexpectedly stop with no idea why and worst yet with no idea as to when i'm able to run again. This is especially frustrating during encounters when I run into those night raiders who are royally messing up my face. I'd like to be able to see my stamina bar in this case or at least have better visual cues from my horse as to how much stamina i have, when i can run and when i should tell my horse to slow down.

-Lack of rebindable keys:
I have a personal preference towards being able to set my keys to whatever i wish. Its just a personal choice in this case but I don't like having to double tap keys to run and holding shift too often in my case tends to cause my game to minimize and a window popping up about shift keys.

-Enemys are kind of boring.
They don't really do anything interesting aside from bum rushing you in the night and are honestly kind of visually uninteresting. Some more diversity in terms of enemies would go a long way to keeping players interested in what they are engaging with.

So what it essentially boils down to is giving players more choices in terms of what they can do so at to keep them engaged especially in moments when theres down time but also better communicating to your players what needs to be done in the game as well.

Does Diablo 3 better than Diablo 3. it will network lag like the dickens but at least this game doesn't demand you pay 40 bucks so you can have the privilege of the game lagging on you and then subsequently disconnecting. Also It has a stupidly reasonable F2P model. You can pay piss all and be able to progress nicely as if you were still paying a full price retail game.

Kill or be killed. Murder in one hit. Die in one hit. Act fast or be dead.

The game is all right and all. Decent story and some pretty slick melee combat but man alive did I hate how the camera whiplashed everytime you reversed the car. Also Hong Kong didn't appeal to me visually in this game and did mar my enjoyment.

Despite what I said for Medieval 2 Total War, I still actually liked Rome Total War.
