Couldn't play the game because there is somehow a different Rockstar Social account already tied to my steam account. I went back and forth with Rockstar Support like 7 times before giving up and requesting a refund through steam.

I can't say anything about the game because you need to discover everything for yourself.

I can only say that this is one of the best games I've ever played and you need to experience it.

Be sure to remove your ESC key before you play this game, or you will lose all your progress by instinctively trying to ESC out of the security camera.

Don't be fooled by the underwhelming screenshots shown on the store page. This game is high paced, action packed, and incredibly fluid. Adventure with your friends for maximum enjoyment.

The game utilizes eight elements which you can combine to create an enormous number of effects. You and your friends can "cross the beams" and have mega powered attacks, massive explosions, and any number of other crazy effects.

The story is a bit quirky but it's actually quite entertaining. There are "twists," drama, humor, and even the occasional moment of somber seriousness. The game can get quite difficult, and every battle leaves you feeling like an action movie hero.

It's a great game on it's own, but it's an unbeatable experience with your friends.

Early Access Review
Old review from 2014 is saved below.

I came back to this game THREE YEARS LATER and it's still in the same buggy, unplayable state as before. Except now loot has been removed from all but a few locations. There are entire cities with no zombies or loot. You can go to the apartments by Cherno and find 1 can of beans as the only loot in 10 buildings.

This isn't a game any more. It's a disgrace. I got my money's worth back in 2014, but now it's not worth the harddrive space. I pity any fool who buys this game now. Go play PUBG, it's a real game.

OLD REVIEW BELOW:
The game is full of bugs. Zombies will run through walls and rip your intestines out while you desperatly try to find their hitbox with your woodcutting axe.

Sometimes you'll wander through a forest dehydrated and starving until you finally find signs of civilization. As you cautiously approach a farmhouse on the outskirts of town you hear the roar of a zombie. Forced to decide between death by starvation and death by evisceration, you make a dash for the house only to discover a man full clad in camo holding an automatic rifle pointed at your face. You put your hands up and say "please sir, I'm starving, I just wanted to find some beans, can I just back away and leave?" to which he will respond with a bullet in your skull. Then you'll hear him laugh as he loots your body before "You are dead" pops up.

After many painful and embarassing deaths you will happen upon a small hunting rifle. A quick look through your tattered child's backpack will reveal that you have a few shells of exactly the kind of ammo this rifle uses! Excited that you can finally stand on your own two feet, you will confidently stroll through town with your boomstick drawn. Suddenly, a zombie pops out from behind you. Afraid to waste your ammo in an excessive display of force, you hit the button for switching to your baseball bat. The game doesn't seem to respond, so you mash the button while running backwards as the zombie slashes at you and blood shoots out of your neck like a geyser. Finally the bat comes out for a second, then goes back on your back. You keep mashing the button for bat and just as you raise it for an attack your screen goes black, followed by a "You are dead" a few seconds later.

Don't be fooled by my low playtime. Most of my time playing has been through mod launchers that didn't include steam overlay. My actual time played is likely between 500 and 1,000 hours.

I can't recommend the base game without mods because I've never played the base game without mods. ACE and ACRE on a multiplayer server are what make the game amazing, and I don't think it's worth your time to play the single player game unmodded.

Arma II is riddled with bugs and problems. It's an incredibly demanding game, even on modern machines. It hogs your CPU and can crash for literally no reason at all. If you're playing with other people (as you should) you'll likely spend hours standing around doing nothing, then get shot in the first few seconds of a firefight and spend the next five minutes staring at a black screen until the death screen pops up because you bled out.

You'll drive down a dirt road at a snails pace watching for IEDs, only to get blown up by one you didn't see hidden in a bush. Then you'll drive down the same road, again, and when you arrive at you area of operation you'll take a bullet to the head and die instantly.

Sometimes you'll have to sit around on a hilltop looking at enemies for 30 minutes while you wait for your fireteam leader to radio the squad leader, who then has to radio command, who then has to radio back questions, which are relayed to your fireteam leader, who answer them back to the squad leader, who radios back to command, who radios back to squad leader permission to engage, who sends back to your fireteam leader, who then tells you you can engage. And that's if everyone is listening to each other. More likely you'll sit around for thirty minutes while the fireteam leader tries to contact the squad leader who doesn't even have their radio on.

Occasionally you'll gear up for a halo jump or fastrope operation, gather everyone on the tarmac, load up into the helicopter, wait for the pilot to discuss drop zone with your officers, then after fifteen minutes of flying your screen will go black with the sound of a surface to air missle blowing a hole through the cockpit.

Believe me when I say Arma II has been the most fun and engaging video game I've ever played and if I could only have one game for the rest of my life it would be this.

Arma III is apparently getting ok but it makes me sad that Arma II is being replace WHY CAN'T WE KEEP ARMA II OPERATIONS CAPTAIN? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME???
