One of the best combat systems I have ever seen. Not as good collision detection as Dark Souls, but with a mounting system that I think puts it above it. That and the way strategies are found not just by you, but by your pawns as well, make it feel very satisfying. I love that you can swap your playstyle whenever you want (a thousand discipline points, which are easy to come by) and that there is still stuff to do after the main story ends. Despite what some people say, I think the story, at least the end bits, is well done. There isn't much of a story, but I love how much they did with so small of a topic. The port is well done for the most part, it runs well on my mid-tier system (equivalent of a desktop i5 and GTX 750 Ti, getting ~50 FPS max 1080p). There are some things that I found annoying during my initial 40 hours with this game. They are minor details, but I feel like I should address them.
1) No co-op. The game has a pawn system which emulates 4 player co-op, but doesn't actually let you play co-op. I am hoping a mod or patch will fix this.
2) NG+ difficulty: the same as NG, making NG+ only for those who wish to get achievements or a different beloved. NG++ is definitely not worth doing.
3) Bugs: There are a few unfixed bugs that linger from the console editions, such as augment bugs in both text and implementation. Additionally, I cannot start the game unless I manually edit the config file to set VSYNC=OFF, and then change it back to on in-game. I hope these bugs are addressed in a patch.
4) Quality of Life: I was focusing on doing the quests I haven't done in my first playthrough, due to the mission fail system (which is an annoyance), and went about trying to start the Search Party quest. I followed the wiki's advice and slept in the inn a total of (no exaggeration) 100+ times, to no avail. I feel that quest givers should be assigned a more static location rather than randomly in one of 5-6 places. I also got betrothed to the only 14 year old in the game, when I gave Madeleine 60+ presents.
Overall, I feel the pros outweigh the cons and although I will be taking a small break from this game for a while, I know I'll be coming back to it soon enough. There are dragons, griffins, ogres, cyclopes, evil eyes, etc. to be slain!
As an aside, I really wish this got to be more mainstream, so we can have a sequel. Demon/Dark Souls got enough attention to warrant a number of them, and this seems to improve upon the action-RPG formula.
I'd rate this a solid 8/10 for now, and even higher when it gets some polish.

I will write my review in no particular order, but I hope to make it concise and coherent. Apologies in advance if my opinion differs from yours, as our experiences should obviously be different.

I will start out by saying this is my first Tales Of game. So some of what I experienced might be old news for any returning player.

Some things I found good about this game were the art style, the music, the cutscenes, and the RPG feel.

The things I had problems with were just about everything else. It's capped at 30FPS. There's screen tearing with VSync on. The combat is absolutely awful, it's presented as a challenge even though I don't struggle a minute amount on the second hardest difficulty. The only reason, in fact, that I don't play on the hardest difficulty, is that it grants debuffs whereas the second hardest grants buffs only. I feel that the systems the game introduces to the player are handled poorly, as they can be ignored for the most part.

Another huge issue I have with this game is the DLC. $20 grants you a large amount of what could be considered P2W items if this were an MMO. This pack should be removed, as it's a horrid excuse for a DLC pack.

Overall rating as of this time: 5.5/10.
