Fun game. Really interesting combat with cards. A mix of turn base RPG with Slay the Spire.

The game is quite fun, it takes a little while to get used to and learn all the mechanics, but when you do that is where the real strategy happens. There are plenty of mechs to choose from and you can customize them. As much as I enjoyed this game, I have to say I did experience some game bugs. The game crashes and freezes a lot, for me it happened in the second half of the story, which was frustrating as I was invested in the game. There are issues on normal missions such as objectives not going away after you complete them, or issues with spawning mechs. Most of the time you can get around this by reloading a checkpoint / save, but it can get really frustrating. The good thing about this game is a lot of the contracts are interesting and the story is pretty good. You don't seem to have much control over the story though, and your responses to story dialogue doesn't seem to matter. There are random events which keep the game interesting. Though regular missions / contracts can get a bit repetitive there is an aspect of randomness to each mission and occasionally the enemy will have some tough mechs or high level pilots and suddenly a mission you thought was going to be easy suddenly turns out to be difficult. That is enjoyable. I hope they add mod support through steam workshop I may consider changing my review.

To avoid game crashes either play the game with no mods and adjust a few settings to ensure not too many game resources are being used. It also isn't a bad idea to restart the game occasionally and try not to load during a battle as it can cause issues. There are some really good quality of life mods out there if you are interested such as Mission Control and Bigger Drops.

Fun game. This game can actually get quite entertaining when you get the hang of it. At first, it can seem a bit intimating as not everything is fully explained (character stamina is important so is the terrain your character is standing on and your stats such as evasion, attack, morale, etc. are critical. Items you give your characters can completely change how you use them, and be careful about anything that lowers a character's stat.). If you level up your soldiers right, and build a good army that is flexible, and make sure you keep your unique characters alive each battle, you will do well. After a while you get over the graphics which at first look a bit outdated, but once you understand everything you can focus on the gameplay, which is great. I also think the AI is pretty good. I really like how much effort went into this and how your characters can gain certain abilities. Overall, I enjoyed the game. I would give the game a 7.5/10. Fun turned base strategy game, similar to Battle for Wesnoth, but with a more complicated rule set.

Early Access Review
A fun game with plenty of replay value. The re-work to the camera system has made the game much better than the initial early release. Probably one of the best gladiator sims I have ever played.

Great Game with many different endings. The story was good and your choices felt like they had real consequences. The game has a lot of side quests and plenty of things to do. They threw in some mini games like the legion battles, but the main feature is the tactical fighting. Though it might have a few quirks, the game is well made and designed. Highly repayable to see different endings. If you are good at these types of games you might want to play on a harder difficulty as near the end you can make your characters quite strong. The character development and voices is well done. I would recommend it to anyone who likes turn based strategy games, Roman History, or choose your own adventure like games.

Great game. If you have played Ogre Battle 64 and liked it, you will enjoy this strategy game. The story is good and the game play is wonderful. It starts off easy, and then slowly adds more complexity. I really enjoyed finishing this game, you can spend a lot of time customizing your squads and army.

Excellent game. If you liked CK2, this is very similar, just with some expanded / better features. As always DLCs come out that make it even better. Great sandbox game.
