I think the amount of time I have spent in this game hints at how this review is going to go.

Siege is by far the best shooter on the market for those that like 5v5 no respawn bomb based game modes.

***** UPDATED REVIEW********

So I reinstalled ION for the free weekend hoping to see how the game had progressed now that finding a match is possible.

So what has changed?

Well everyone gets armor and shields off the rip, which is fine, however the TTK feels super high now. Shields have become regenerating, kinda like Halo or Mass Effect.

Overall the armor system works largely the same. You can pick up additional armor pieces off the ground or dead players if you lose your own.

Unfortunately the game has not aged well. In the short time it has been out, we have been exposed to more BR games than non BR games. Recoil isn't a thing in the game any more, weapons feel like they shoot rubber balls, and combined with everyone having armor off the start high risk plays just aren't worth it anymore. You no longer need to fight people that drop with you to safeguard loot. Just grab a weapon and run away cause you already have armor.

With the stagnant progression in the game, and absolute refusal of the Devs to transition into a F2P model to boost player pop, I can no longer recommend this game.

I have left the original review I wrote below for context on how my opinion changed.

Original review: Mid July 2018

ION is the most promising BR game I've played. It recognizes that it is a shooter game, and should reward players who are good at gunfighting, and have great movement. If you suck at shooters, and find that most of the time playing other BR games you are camping in a bush, you will get destroyed here.

PROS:
- Game trims down on cumbersome and uneeded controls. I hate getting in a good firefight in PUBG only to die to some dude that was prone AFK in a bush fetching his pizza rolls, just happening to return with my back to him. There is no prone in this game. There is also no leaning (coming from Siege is wierd to adjust, but feels great) so if you peek and your aim sucks you get punished.

- There is one tier of armor with 4 pieces (Chest, Head, Arms, Legs) and a shield that can stop a bullet or two. You dont have to worry about getting screwed if you dont have T3 gear (PUBG). Shields also don't stop headshots.

- Sniper rifles only do huge damage with headshots. If you body someone its basically a wasted shot. Great for making sniping rewarding but not OP.

- Loot distrobution is great. No matter where you drop you will have a near full kit. Some areas are more dense that others, but you won't feel like you can't ever find a gun. Armor is slightly harder to assemble a full set, but still bountiful.

- In duos/Squads you need to have a med to revive someone. So if you down someone on another team it's a big deal. Each player can only carry 3 meds at a time.

- Pacing games last 15 minutes TOPS. There is no boring middle game where you run aimlessly for 20 minutes to die to some dude prone in a bush.

- Characters don't blend in with the environment, and are easy to see. It encourages good movement and positioning over hiding.

- Game feels responsive (kinda like cod)

CONS:

- There is some desolate areas of the map between monuments. Honestly they could keep all the named and unnamed locations in the game, move them closer together, and it would feel perfect. There are plans for more maps, so its not a total loss.

- Inconsitent FPS (not unbearable, but noticable at times) expected from an EA game.

- Character models... basic, but they work.

- render distance, at about 500 meters models start to look a bit low poly even at max settings. Will likely be sorted out in later optimizations, and it affects everyone so it doesnt really give anyone an edge in game.

Summary: I think it is worth a buy. Worst comes to worse you got 2 weeks to return it if you play it for less than 2 hrs.

Alright, lets get down to buisness!

The Good:
Units no longer take 99% casualties to route like in Rome 2, however when you do route a unit, and the enemies general is alive, you better expect them to come back!

The factions are very well balanced, in fact I managed to take over most of the map using a barbaric faction, granted it was extremely difficult.

Its smooth and fairly responsive

The campaign map is Huge, like if you took kevin Hart and stood him next to Shaq on the set of the JB roast, thats the size difference between TWR2 and TWA.

The Bad:

DLC Factions

Blood and gore you Barely notice, except for that one decapitation i saw that one time in 30+ Hrs

Missiles are extremely under powered from the front, shooting a unit of cominatences with 4 archer units on heavy shot should get at least one kill before the enemy closes the 500m gap!!

The Ugly:

Attilas face

How easy your allies turn on you after you liberated them, gave them gifts, assisted them in war, no cultural/religious aversion, and brought the 4 factions of the bitish Isles together to above 300 points of friendliness. All because they got mad I killed the roman empire and helped them expand all the way to the sassanids!!!

10/10 would build up a friedship spanning 300 years just to get robbed of my land, money, and allies... Sounds like a bad divorce

I love my guitar, and sometimes I get bored. So one day I bought Rocksmith 2014. Ive spent over 100 hrs on Rocksmith (Original) and used it mainly because it gives you access to great effects to throw on your guitar. The game is great for learning as a begginner and moderate player. If you are just starting this game will try your patience. It's not a magical program that gives you techniques from the likes of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Dimebag Darrel, Dave Mustaine, Dan Donegan, Synyster Gates, and Andy James, HOWEVER....................... If you stick with it, and do the fundamental drill over and over again, you will progress at a decent pace. I recommend it if you are willing to put time into it. This is the only game where I can say I really didn't waste money, because it has a real life affect on the real world. ENJOY!

This is by far the most disturbing game I have ever played. It is well worth the 20 bucks i f you are a horror junkie. Amnesia has nothing on the tension, and fear that this game builds in you. There are several times while playing i almost quit planning on not playing again. I beat the game and felt like i had just come back from hell. This game is not for children or the feint of heart.
