This game very quickly shot up my list for most anticipated game of 2025. It's a telltale game at it's peak, and also the whole game looks like that??? It looks like the trailer at all times! I've watched TV shows that looked worse than this!

You know the bit in souls games, where you get your ass handed to you but you go "Alright, I learned something, let's go again"

Imagine you put 1 hour between you and that boss, and you also had to convince 2 other people to do the same. That is the conceit behind Elden Ring Nightreign.

I have no idea who this game is for, the exploration from elden ring is gone, disincentivised by the moving storm. The map very rarely changes, but it does change all the bosses, so it's hard to learn any particular boss, and none except the very end one really offer any huge challenge (your mileage may vary, playing with 2 other people I can hear) Every run feels very samey, rarely will there be any huge changes and often you will find yourself fighting the same guys over and over, but it isn't consistent. There's a real lack of information of things that count, like I got an ability that only activates when I use Greatswords, but I can't tell, when going to pick one up, if something is a greatsword or not. Little things. Fromsoft Jank, but here it grates up against the experience instead of being charming

It's very odd, and I don't hate it! The combat is still great and the new bosses are fun! Even some of the old ones got new coats of paint. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Maybe on sale, but I really don't think it's worth the price point for what it is, especially knowing there's DLC coming.

It's one of the greatest games of all time, 20 years of blood and sweat and tears put into an approachable package. With deep systems and even deeper caverns, I am still finding stuff out about this game, incredibly specific details that in any other game would be an afterthought, or not considered at all!

This is like Myst for masochists. Sometimes, you straight up do not have all the pieces for a puzzle, or the goal you set out with becomes completely unachievable. You have to be able to give up, and go again. I think a lot of the reviews of this game have been missing that, it is at it's core, a roguelike, the deck is stacked and 50% of the time it will be against you, but that doesn't mean that runs are meaningless, you collect more clues, you get closer to solving bigger puzzles. I've just seen the credits and I feel like I have barely scratched the surface!

I love this game, maybe you will too.

I cannot recommend this game for 90 AUD. It's fine, it's perfectly serviceable as a video game. But there's nothing in it mechanically that isn't done by anything before it. And if you're a Dragon Age fan? You will likely be underwhelmed until the very last moment. The companions and the last act of the game are really well done, but I cannot stop thinking about the game this could have been if it wasn't forced into the live service hole so early on in it's life.

I hope they make more, and I hope they get better. Maybe get it on sale if you are really interested.

I have been following this game since it was thought up as a concept so maybe I am a little biased but also it lived up to every expectation I had. It's basically what if a tactical shooter stole from puzzle games bin. And I loved it!
