The worst multiplayer game I've ever played. It's a rarity to find a game where someone isn't blatantly and openly cheating... it's absolutely insane how bad it is. I'm convinced EA does literally nothing when you report players - even when the entire room is doing so. It gets worse, too... reporting players can sometimes take more than 5 minutes due to the massive glitchy nature of this game. Opening the EA overlay specifically is so bad that it has a 1/3 chance of crashing the entire game.

I held off on buying this game for years because it reminded me of the Fallout "Vault" game. This is nothing like the Fallout Vault game... in fact, it's easily one of the most upsettingly addictive games I've ever played. The "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews for this game are well-earned, and the proof for this is in the fact you DON'T NEED MODS to play it. There are some mods that I am going to install tonight, but nothing on the entire list struck me as a "must have" - usually these are UI improvements, but this game really doesn't have any glaring problems in this area! In fact, I am running it on a 4k monitor, and there are full controls for UI scaling. I love this, and I love that the devs provided it.

A very solid game that continues to be unique well after it's initial release. Being able to fight on such a massive map with hundreds of other players is absolutely amazing. Ever since they added player-place-able buildings, the interesting aspects of the game have skyrocketed. I'd love a Planetside 3, but at least PS2 is still holding up thanks to consistent, high-quality additions to the game.

I don't have a ton of hours in this game yet, but I've definitely enjoyed the hell out of it! It's fun, complex, and captivating. I hardly ever play single player games, but this one really captured me. Highly recommended!

Here's the tl;dr up front: It's not that the game is horrible, but there's nothing uniquely good about it, either. The small frustrations really pile up when you're playing for hours without any sort of endorphin return.

The #1 reason to play this game is to feel a sense of progression. The problem is that there's nothing at the end to justify that ongoing effort.

Pros:
+ Pretty decent graphics, pretty landscapes
+ Decent combat mechanics (very similar feel to BDO, but a little more basic)
+ Super fun early game gathering mechanics (grindy, but satisfying)
+ Decent crafting (not amazing, but still somewhat rewarding)

Cons:
- Leveling is slow, grindy, and unsatisfying. Leveling right now requires people to relentlessly fulfill the same repeating quests at the town message boards and faction boards. Progression is so slow that you'll grow tired of your current surroundings long before being able to leave them for higher level areas.
- Since population has plummeted since launch, many missions are broken. In many cases, you'll find enemies re-spawning after a minute, turning many easy missions 10 levels below you into impossibly frustrating tasks. Many others will say "loot 5 boxes", but some locations only have 1-2 boxes... so you have to camp them and wait for the boxes to re-spawn after 30 minutes to an hour.
- The markets have crashed, and the price of some of the best early game loot and craftable items is now just 1-2 gold (it costs at least 1 gold to sell something). Items can be repaired essentially for free, so there's no real drive to keep the markets fueled. Most people just salvage everything they loot, but salvaging gives you nothing useful after the first few days, and rewards you with the same loot no matter what quality the item. So basically, 95% of the time loot is straight up a burden and/or nuisance.
- PVP is pretty lame and unimaginative... no siege, destructible walls, or anything interesting... The majority of the time it amounts to button mashing and zerging against other enemy zergs.
- Housing mechanics are boring and unimaginative (instanced housing, no shared spaces for companies or groups.) Houses are basically just decorable storage units.
- Amazon completely botched the launch, and this is a very bad sign for what's to come. 70+ hour queue's, closed servers (separating us from friends), broken promises to allow cross-region transfers, and unfixed bugs from the TWO beta's are just a small taste of this game's inauspicious beginning.
- There's zero incentive to be social in this game. This isn't abnormal, but it's what I find to be wrong with most modern MMO's. It's actually quite difficult to get groups going for some quests, but once you spam the chat enough you can land one. Once landed, you'll find a quiet experience where everyone slogs through the dungeon as fast as they possibly can.

This is a truly charming game that has exceeded my high expectations (expectations that Chucklefish has earned through Starbound.) It's a story-based game with clear progression that is chock-full of nostalgic game mechanics. There's literally an enthralling game INSIDE this game that's fun in and of itself. I highly recommend this title to everyone, even those who don't usually play these types of games. I do not usually play these types of games, that's for sure... but this one is exceptional!

A solid game, but you do need to install quite a few mods to make it enjoyable. Hopefully the devs work on some of those QoL improvements! Also, the graphics could use a boost (there's a few mods that help this a lot).

Amazing game, but be sure you install mods right away. I went years without doing this, wondering why so many people put so much time into it... Turns out that ALL the best maps and songs are from the mod community. Literally all of the options provided by the developers are sub-par compared to what you can download for free. Considering FACEBOOK (Oculus) now owns this game, I'd highly, highly recommend never giving them a penny more after purchasing the game itself.

This game has amazing bones, but it's not there yet. I know it's an early access "alpha" version, and we're all supposed to completely throw our expectations out the door for alpha games, but at the price point they are selling this I feel it's really not worth buying into right now. $31.49 for a game that has severe bugs that make playing this game extremely frustrating is not really something I want to see here, or in the future.

Compare this with fully functional games that are quite similar to this at the $19.99 price point, and I think it's clear that their sights are set too high right now. Bring it to 50% off, and I'll consider buying this again (I refunded it) and I will happily continue with the alpha test. Until then, it's just not there yet at this price point. The price suggests we're in for a treat, but all we're really in for at this stage is frustration and buyer's remorse.

This was incredibly stupid... Like... I don't even. I love spotlight stories, but this one was so bad.
