KIM KITSURAGI - “WHAT ARE YOU DOING??” The lieutenant jumps away from you.

YOU - “Nothing, you wouldn’t understand. It’s an honour thing.”

10/10 would honour myself again

Mini Metro is one of the few guilty pleasures I discovered this year. Deceptively simple in the beginning, Mini Metro becomes frenetically difficult as the game progresses, as it tests your planning, creativity, and efficiency. Highly recommended.

As a latecomer to HITMAN Season 1, I can’t speak to the merits of the episodic format which this game has taken, but when taken in its entirety, HITMAN is an excellent game. Though this season is approaching its end, it’s not too late to enjoy this game, as more online content will continue to be released for a while longer until Season 2 comes out.

A few observations:

HITMAN fulfills your need to eliminate your targets in disguises and methods you never knew you wanted. Have you ever wanted to assassinate someone while disguised as a masseur or a yoga instructor? Ever wanted to drown someone in a toilet or knock someone out with a coconut? HITMAN has you covered.

The great thing about the Story mode is the background storyline that develops while Agent 47 is on mission. In it, a more threatening plot unfolds, in which he and Burnwood are unwitting pawns in a deadly conspiracy. It feels like a grand spy thriller in the making, and its continuation is something I look forward to in Season 2.

In voice acting, David Bateson reprises his deathly portrayal of Agent 47, while Jane Perry brings a witty Bond-esque English flair to Diana Burnwood. On the other hand, I found the American and British accents among the minor NPC’s a bit too commonplace, given the variety of locales. It does break immersion at times, but overall it is not a deal-breaker.

My favorite mode is the Elusive Target, a time-sensitive contract that pops up every couple of weeks, and permanently disappears when the contract expires or when the mission ends in success or failure, with no do-overs. As a latecomer, I’ve only played one Elusive Target mission so far, and I was immediately hooked. It’s disappointing that I won’t be able to play previous Elusive Target missions (especially the Gary Busey one), but future updates to HITMAN Season 1 are planned in the new year, at least until Season 2 comes out.

Overall, my experience with HITMAN Season 1 has been extremely positive, and has made me a likely early adopter for Season 2. Here’s hoping that IO Interactive can keep this momentum going.

Easily one of the best games of 2016, Inside leaves a lasting impression well after the last cutscene. If you liked Limbo, you will definitely enjoy Inside, as it is better than its predecessor in every way. If you haven't played either of these games, you owe it to yourself to pick up the bundle. Highly recommended

The DCS MiG-15bis module comprehensively covers this first-generation jet fighter in an unprecedented level, from its accurate flight model down to every single flip-switch.

As with any DCS World module, what you get out of it depends on what you put into it. As a newcomer to DCS World, I’ve gotten a lot of joy out of dogfighting the MiG-15’s counterpart from the Korean War, the F-86 Sabre, where air combat relied primarily on pilot skill and taking full advantage of the early jet fighters' strengths. With that said, there’s lot of room for improvement in my dogfighting abilities, but I do feel like I’m improving with experience, and I’m also looking to delve deeper into MiG-15’s finer details, such as performing a cold startup from memory.

The biggest knock against this module is that it’s very lacking in prebuilt missions and campaigns. It would be really nice to fly some historical Korean War missions. Perhaps they may show up in a future update or module, but for now, the DCS website has some user-created missions and liveries that will adequately hold me over for now.

Aside from its shortcomings, the MiG-15bis is a great module for anyone interested in studying this feared Soviet aircraft. I highly recommend a HOTAS joystick system and a head-tracking device such as TrackIR.

Arguably one of the greatest adventure games ever made, Day of the Tentacle receives the remaster treatment with beautiful HD graphics, upgraded music quality, and a new intuitive interface, but still retains the original light-hearted charm and humor. Rendering can also be switched on-the-fly between the remastered version and the original pixelated classic. The puzzles themselves are straightforward, with the occasional stumper. Experienced adventure gamers will breeze through this fairly quickly, but this classic is not to be missed, especially if you haven't played it before. 10/10

SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT.

A thoroughly captivating FPS where time advances when you move. Though the story mode is brief, there are unlockable challenges and modes that add to replayability. Plus, you can add your replays to the "Killstagram" website. 9/10

Favorite XCOM 2 moment:
After I used a hacked Sectopod to wipe out a group of Sectoids under cover, I lost control of the Sectopod and it turned around to ramp up a devastating attack on my squad. My Specialist, who was on Overwatch, fired on the full-health Sectopod and instantly killed it with the Superior Repeater weapon upgrade.

XCOM 2 is better and more challenging than XCOM in nearly every way. Welcome back, Commander. 10/10
