Enormous potential, very charming

That's the quickest, best way to describe The Long Drive. Let's be clear, at the time of writing, the game is Early Access and is broken in lots of hilarious and annoying ways. However, the idea it presents is what makes me want to keep playing and see where it goes.

The game combines a lot of the themes I enjoy. If you're anything like me and you enjoy old Top Gear Specials, The Grand Tour, documentaries on dangerous roads and anything post-apocalyptic, you'll find something to enjoy here. The Long Drive gives you all of those. It's pretty clear the team behind the game is small and they're definitely having some fun with it. That said, I hope the game doesn't fall too deep into novelty to lose sight of what it could be.

The car maintenance, the scavenging, the looming threat all make you feel like you're the star in your own road film. When I first got my blue station wagon cleaned up and in working order I was so proud of it. Begrudgingly I moved onto a bus - a bigger project. Over time I managed to fix her up too but I struggled with fuel. Just like those Top Gear Specials I mentioned, I didn't know what I was running on - it was fumes. I find a garage that has a broken down car. I start piecing it together again using what is to hand, odd parts and missing doors and I am reminded of Jeremy Clarkson driving across Africa in his broken and beaten up Lancia. One problem though, no gas. So I hop back into my bus and hope for the best.

Then I saw it,a ship in the desert. I frantically search the remains and pull together piles of useful materials. Wedging barrels into stairwells of the bus to stop them rolling around really shows how the physics of the game make it so much more engaging than an inventory system.

Later, I find a storehouse loaded with junk. I sift through and filter bits of fluids and other materials into useful piles on the sand outside my bus as the sun sets. I walk round changing wheels and cleaning parts. Somewhere between Mad Max, Fallout and Test Drive I've just realised I'm still playing at 4:00am.

Among the debris I found a radio and after many hours of silent travelling I finally have some company. I am amazed that the first radio station is playing the sort of music I like; it's a synthwave station. Now I am driving along at dusk, gazing out the side of the bus windows, watching giant rabbits run along the desert, all scored with dreamy synthwave. This is brilliant. Again, I'm reminded of the montage shots in Top Gear or The Grand Tour.

It is worth mentioning too that all the radio stations are excellent. The music is all genuinely good and the narrator, although similar across the board, I assume given their resource availability, is also amusing - there is a real GTA tongue-in-cheek vibe to everything that is said.

I really connected with this game and I really hope it gets the support it deserves. I think there is ultimately three things the game needs now:

It needs polish: collision detection, building functionality, texture popping, multiplayer.

It needs variety: many more vehicles, locations, buildings, parts, collectables, environmental features.

It needs more modes: you can drive a long way but I would love to see a survival mode. Food and water requirements, scavenging for things in the desert, making additions to your chosen building/home, boarding up windows, defend against aliens and more. We know multiplayer is being worked on. Imagine frantically fuelling a bus as your friends fight off bunnies? Fantastic.

Best of luck Genesz.

At the time of writing I've put 38 hours into Civ VI and I'm surprised it isn't more. I'm currently in the middle of three campaigns with three friends (two duets and one trio). There are a lot of hardened Civ V fans who won't adjust well - I was one of them to begin with. However, treat Civ VI as it's own game, instead of comparing it and it's fantastic. Also in truth, I would probably say it's my favourite of all the Civ games. Now if you're the sort of person who plays on Epic and needs minute management, stick with Civ V. If you want to play Civ, have fun, go online with some friends, Civ VI is the better game.

It's well worth £1.59. I played a few random battles and have done a tournament. Plenty of laughs along the way. Very excited to see and hear what H.P. Lovecraft had to say. I've got a couple of friends getting it for some battles. It's a steal for £1.59.

Please keep going. Add content. Add more interactions (shutting balcony doors). Add more action outside, different vehicles (instead of the same police car). More. Please more.

It's early days, the visuals and physics are a bit janky and the majority of people I bump into are usually odd balls - go figure, VR early adopters are going to be. I'm writing a quick review to say this, I don't have VR. I use my desktop. Going online to have a look and see what things are like was really useful so I appreciate that feature. It's inspired me to get Unity back to make a new character model. I've had laugh out loud moments with people. Investment in the business is high and I expect, one day, VRChat will evole into the benchmark in VR social gaming.

A friend and I have been playing this from very early on. Still enjoying it. We're playing it for the sandbox, building bigger and better forts each time. In new locations. Getting experimental with the materials. The objective is secondary really, we'll wait for that to be fine tuned. As it stands, as a fun, 'whoa I was chopping wood and now I've messed myself because something jumped out the tree and my friend has begun swinging her flaming torch wildly' game, it's a solid game so far.

Absolutely what I hoped it would be. It's a no nonsense, heart pumping, pupils dilated ride into hell. The campaign starts immediately and from then you don't stop. Everything is satisfying. The soundtrack is atmospheric and adrenaline inducing, the environemnts are gorgeous and every gun and glory kill feels visceral, powerful and heavy. You really feel like your ripping an arm off something. The multiplayer is equally as exciting, it's a fair balance between twitch shooter and some allowence for newer gamers. You'll find guys, who opt for the dirtier, scratched up armour, with subtle Quake logos who you know come from a time gone by and they will tear the place up - unless you call on a demon and take back control. Tables turn, I've lost games by one point and demolished a team 250 to nothing... Every game is new. I'd suggest playing it on the default difficulty first to enjoy the game, the story - or what there is of it. What I love is DOOM wants to have fun. Times when you think 'Oh look, another typical stereotype', you do the opposite. What a guy. What a Doomguy.

A truly outstanding mech game. If you're looking for a simulation experience with tactical gameplay, solid cooperation in every match and a positive and friendly community then look no further. Given that there is very few mech/mecha type games out there of this calibre, luckily MWO really has nailed most of what you want. The maps are big and detailed. The mechs are very customisable. This is a simulation where skill is required - but forgiving enough for a novice. When you relay coordinates and see people actively respond it shows you the community understand teamwork. When you spend the time and effort tagging opponents and people thank you for it - it's worth it. You can play a ranged game, a stealth game or get amongst it and brawl. As a final bonus, there are paid elements but you can do everything in game and there is no pay to win - David can always beat Goliath!

The first true look at a large scale dystopian future. A future so horrid and so rich in stories and characters that I absolutely would trade my real life for it. The absolute panic of walking through a quite street, apartment buildings to each side. Seeing a boarded up street ahead and watching six legs slowly meander toward the entrance and slowing thinking to yourself that nothing with six legs should be that big...
