SNOW IS AVAIBLE ONLY ON SELECTED MAPS! It will NOT appear on "standard" maps. Also some, if not most, mods will not work until they get updated to Snowfall!

The Review

Snowfall is a great addition to Cities Skylines. Snow looks amazing. It adds additional layer to the game, even though it is only for certain maps which is quite a shame. The weather effects like rain, fog,... are for all maps and definetly make the game more real.

I am in bit of a struggle to recommend this DLC, it is great, don't get me wrong, but there is massive problem with Cities Skylines DLC. The devs rely way too much on modders to add features and fix things. This DLC gives you THREE maps to play with snow, not that great and the response is obvious, modders will make a ton more. And besides snow, heat(!), streetcars and snow plowers there is nothing else. On the other hand this DLC costs 12.99. I would definetly NOT call this an expansion. This is a small DLC that adds some neat features nothing more.

There is no question about snowfall being bad addition for Cities Skylines, it is a good addition.
The question here is whenever is Snowfall good value for the 12.99 price tag. It is quite difficult to discuss this. Cities Skylines alone is an amazing game that is cheap, pretty much 50% of standard AAA price, so slightly expensive DLC may be ok(?). Comparing this to standard DLC for other games like Cities of Tomorrow for the latest SimCity, Snowfall adds considerably less content. I believe these types of DLC are here just to give incentive to play again for those that stopped playing or play way less. And it works, a lot of people come back and go play again. The snow feature and weather overall makes it worth it as it adds incentive to play again.

I will update this review further I play!

This game keeps on crashing. Including the final battle at the end of the game. Forcing me to repeat that terrible boss fight over and over and over again. This is an example of how a developer I have put my trust into fails me. I love Saints Row, but the state of this game is garbage. AVOID!

I purchased Space Engineers shortly after the first update back in 2013. Since then it has been on the top of my playtime on Steam. It will be the first game for me to pass 900 hours played and shortly even 1,000 hours played. This playtime is however over the entire development.

There were stages when I felt the developers lost it and went in the wrong direction. There were times when I felt the game is outright bad. I let my opinion heard on the forums, reddit or other channels. But I refrained from making a final judgment until today as it's been a few months since release and we already have two DLC packs so I can judge with confidence that little will change down the line.

Space Engineers is visually beautiful, the sound is great (especially on realistic settings). The game has some very unique concepts which you don't find in copycats that popped up shortly after Space Engineers. Now it's not to say the game is flawless, it has many flaws but I found that such flaw exists depending on the player. I am not a fan of a linear progression, I dislike fighting NPC enemies to progress. In the 10 years since Minecraft launched I have spend 99% in peaceful or creative mode as I dislike fighting in these types of games. Some believe this game should have had more of a 'challenge' but I will go out on a limb here and say that those people merely can't set their own goals.

Space Engineers has no linear goal and as such people who have trouble setting their own goals in videogames will struggle. You can of course 'colonize' every planet but the way you do it matters. You can do it within 10-20 hours with a crappy ship or you can spend 100 hours building an automatic self-replicating fleet of ships. It's up to you.

To make a not on the DLC, all I can say is that those who make negative reviews and posts about it are just sad. Most of those people got thousands of hours of enjoyment from Space Engineers and a $5 DLC now puts their jimmies in a twist. It's good DLC, intended to support further development of the game.

DISCLAIMER: A key for this game has been provided by the developer.

What can I say. Mooch is strange, and definetly not a game for me, and I have to say, personally I did not enjoy it.

This type of a game is not for me, and if you are like me you won't enjoy it any more than I did, but what the game set out to do it does reasonably well. Nothing exceptional.

Story is non existent, so if you are like me and like story and reason behind your gamples, you won't like the game too much.

The atmosphere of the game is great, personally I'd say it is the absolute best thing about the game.Tight corridors and death behind every corner - perfect. My problem is - NO CONTEXT TO ALL OF THIS. If you don't mind that - try it out. It may surprise you.

Let's just say, I am not a fan of the game, I did not enjoy it much, but I would recommend it for the price, it is cheap enough to justify trying it out. It definetly is not a game for me though and if you like me enjoy stories in games - you won't like Mooch much.

This expansion does NOT add the day&night cycle, Day&Night cycle is a FREE update for the base game Cities Skylines.

https://youtu.be/lLLHHQgpiF0 My review of Cities Skylines

Many features were implemented to the base game free of charge. By purchasing this expansion, you get access to new buildings, bike lanes, bigger bus stations, international airport and more.

Also the crime system of the game gets more in-depth in this expansion. Normally a criminal is moved to a police station and released some time later, still as a criminal. Prison, one of the additions of this paid expansion, works as rehabilitation center. So the criminal gets moved to the police station only to be moved to the prison and when he is relased he is no longer a criminal.

If you like Cities it is a must-own. If you are looking to buy this, and you are not sure if it is worth the asking price, check out some popular streamers/youtubers to see what the expansion entails.

Edit #1: As a result of this review getting quite a lot of attention and high helpful rating I'll add more information as I play through the game.

So far I am just a bit over 3 hours in the expansion. It release 4 hours ago as of writing this edit. Night is amazing, but maybe too dark for some people as you can't build too much. Also there may be a lot of light.

About the Day&Night cycle (please understand it is hard for me to see what is free update and what the expansion so I'll asses it as a whole):

Night is the new addition. And oh boy. It makes the game prettier than ever before. One thing Cities always lacked for me were the times when I can just stop and look at my city as it grows with all its lights. Not I can and it is beatiful. The cycle does not take that much time, I'd guess the night is around 5 minutes and the day few minutes longer. It does not outstay its welcome.

In the Budget panel you can set different budget for Day/Night. Setting police higher during the night in bigger cities is reccomended.

Changes to traffic:

Traffic changes during the night. Obviously there is a bit less cars, but from what I can tell bit more trucks. So don't expect easy time. There are now variations to the four and six lane roads with one of the lanes for each direction being devoted to bus/taxi. Unfortuanetly it is not avaible for one ways, but it helps the traffic in cities with a lot of buses.(Taxi is the new addition, it is like buses you just don't set your own lines. Mainly used by tourists.)

Another changes: Coastal areas now have higher land value, so alongside the beach you won't see cheap houses anymore.

There is a bunch of new policies, but to see the effect of some of them I'd need way more time to play. (Sleep is for weak by the way)
