As a precursor for this game and the comments ill recieve after, I dont mind raiding, at all. its part of the game, getting ganked is normal. However this game IS in early alpha and isnt worth 20 dollars. Because of this im getting a refund. There is so many missed opportunities in the game that I cant bring myself to reccommend it.

Rust is a survival game based around living in the middle of nowhere during a post apocalyptic crisis. you gather these resources to build your base, craft, and keep your character alive. Its a great concept as its been done to death and really hard to mess up, but rust does it. I walked around the map for an hour and couldnt find anything to eat and died 4 times in a row over the course of an hour because all the food is gone. and I understand that its a server based thing but what makes that okay? a basic element of a game is almost impossible to get because everyone else has it. in any survival game, it should not be that hard to find food. Every time I mention there being no food in the game, they tell me to go kill some horses or something. Wheres the horses? ive seen 2 animals in my 4 hours of this game.

Your character starts out with a stone. its a basic tool. everytime you use it the durability gets weakened so you cant keep it forever. Not a big deal right? theres tons of rocks around the map I should be able to just hit one and get more stone? except theres only 3 types of certain rocks that are mineable, all these other brown rocks are just decoration. the worst part? if you accidentally hit one of these rocks with a pickaxe or the rock that you spawn with its durability goes down every time you hit it. What sense does this make? So now because rocks are SOMEWHERE in the map you have to go looking for a rock. cant find one? too bad, keep looking. the normal thing to do here would be to get wood in the meantime right? Now that youve got all this wood from this basic rock its dead and you have to get another one. You dont have any stone and the only thing that you can use to get more rocks is the stone itself. No game should trap me like this. Looks like you gotta do some killing.

since you dont have that rock anymore, time to kill someone who just spawned in the game to take his rock. Take some of that wood and make a spear. before the player even had a chance to protect himself because the server was loading, you killed him. My only real problem with weapons in the game is that you can make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocket launcher in the middle of nowhere with scraps from a abandoned oil drum and some old fuel. for me, the game is so oriented around killing other people and not actually surviving.

Its pretty good.

on a side note, for people with terrible computers there should be an option to turn off the dynamic lighting.
