I heavily recommend this game. It's amazing, and I expect to get many more hours of play in the future.

Go in completely blind for your first play through except for this advice:

When going to the first town accept the lewd old man's offer. This is intended as an extended tutorial effectively & without it the game becomes very difficult to play on a first time play through (on the "harder" difficulties, anyway), as he holds your hand to help you progress & complete an ending.

Fans of Wuxia or people who enjoy exploratory RPG's will enjoy this game, just listen to the advice above so you don't get trolled by the Chinese like I did in my first playthrough.

Despite having an entirely different development team for each DLC, Risk Of Rain 2 has somehow messed up in the same exact way both times! Run ending and game breaking bugs are excessively common, especially in multiplayer! I really have no idea how Gearbox didn't look at the past (and somewhat recent) mistakes of Hopoo, especially when now more than ever they need to prove that they aren't about to butcher this game and its IP. The saving grace of this DLC is that it does bring "good" new content, new stages are fun and interesting enough as far as stages can be, new enemies were quite cool as well. But stages and some new enemies aren't the bulk of a $15 asking price, its the survivors & items which dramatically change how each run plays out. And its these primary aspects of this DLC being lackluster that helps me not recommend this DLC, at least not now nor at full price. The items are just alright overall, but the main gripe is with one of the three survivors, the Seeker. A primary component of their kit (which has no alt skill) is almost entirely designed around playing in multiplayer, meaning they are a budget challenge mode survivor in singleplayer. The other two survivors at least do not seem to posses any fatal flaws like the Seeker. If you already enjoy RoR2, this might be worth it to you, but if your interested in the game and are intending to jump straight in with this new DLC, reconsider where your going to spend your money.

Loaded up into my first run with 2 friends, found a dog trapped in a bear trap right after starting. I saved it, and it became a companion to fight alongside us. It was great. It's name was Steve. It died like 3 fights later and I cried. 0/10 bad game I miss Steve.

It's alright. Needs some work, but it's free, so just try it, you'll know within an hour if you're going to enjoy it.

Words cannot describe my intense hatred for this video game.
