Pretty good game. One of the best RPG Maker games I've ever played. There are a lot of typos scattered throughout the expansive amounts of text that really stood out to me due to their frequency, but they didn't ruin the game by any stretch of the imagination.

It's a rock solid RPG in the spirit of old-school Final Fantasy IV/VI, Dragon Warrior and even Phantasy Star type games from the NES/SNES/Genesis eras.

I'd give it a solid 7.5/10. The typos are much too common is a straight -1. Insufficient editing point blank.

The story is a nostalgia trip harkening to the RPG's of the 90's. If you loved Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and/or Phantasy Star from that decade, you'll enjoy this. If you didn't/don't like those, you won't like this story either.

Gameplay is basic but much better edited and polished than the game's text. Even on 'Easy' mode, you'll soon learn the value of figuring out enemy weaknesses and exploiting them before you get wiped out. Tactical turn-based combat is done fairly well and the overall balance trends towards being difficult even on Easy mode when you compare it to modern RPG's...much like oldskool RPG's in that sense as well.

The characters are all given a solid amount of personality and development, much moreso than was entirely common to the medium back in the 90's. By the time you finish this game, you'll know who all your characters are well enough to like/dislike them all based on their characterizations.

You get choices that matter in this game as well. A rudimentary but effective morality system is in place, and you can make honorable/selfish choices along the way through optional side quests and main storyline beats alike. In the end, whether you are honorable enough to gain access to weapons like Excalibur or selfish/bad enough to get the bad choice vendors and consequences to be there for you is up to you.

Multiple playthroughs to see what I suspect to be three different endings and go both ways with your morality are clearly intended, though the replay value of the game on the whole will largely rest on what part composition and thus what gameplay experience you wind up focusing on.

You'll be doing the same things down the path of a linear storyline just the same, though your party composition could dramatically alter how you go about beating different bosses and grinding your XP and GP.

All in all, this is a solid game. Even if you're not usually a fan of RPG Maker games, if you like oldschool RPG's, this one deserves a few bucks and some of your time to check out.

One of the best JRPG's, along with its predecessor. If you like the 'Tales of' or Dragon Quest games, Ni no Kuni II (and the first one) are right there with them in general gameplay style with heavy emphasis on exploration, sidequests and post-game extravaganzas of completionist goodies.

I like the entire game.

I dislike how fast travel options are withheld until fairly late in the game.

I'd still recommend buying and playing it if you like JRPG's. This is a classic. Buy it and you won't be sad.

Game sucks and I'm sure it'll never be successful and nobody'll ever play it.

Basically a good game with some seriously challenging research/exploration quests you'll probably just look up on the interweb and cheat your way through anyway, but the pay to win is strong with the SWL remake.

Like...hilariously bad-strong. They don't even try to put lipstick on that pig or anything.

So I guess they get One Naked Pig out of 10 for at least being honest about it.

I'm only reviewing this game in 2019 because I feel that everyone should be informed that Witcher 3 is really a very good game and nobody ever says so anywhere ever and it definitely never gets mentioned on reddit or anything like that.

/s

PS: It really is quite good though. You should play it if you haven't.

It's FF8 alright. No surprises here.

The new character models are nice. Background textures and framerate leave everything to be desired, but that's just how life is in Squeenix 'Remaster' land and they didn't chart new territory with this one.

Is it worth the asking price? I dunno. Probably not. I bought it anyway because I like FF8 and I wanted to see if it was as terrible as some of the other reviews said.

It's fine. It just isn't much of a remaster in any meaningful capacity.
