I really wanted to like this game. The first two hours really had me hooked and it seemed exactly like the kind of game I would love. I ended up just being pretty disappointed though.

The good:

The art is great throughout the whole game. Ranging from very cute to eldritch horror, the visuals are probably the strongest aspect of the game.

The music is okay. It's not great, and would have been significantly improved if it was recorded live instead of using a sound font. The title track is excellent, and had my hopes high, but it didn't maintain the same level of quality throughout. Still, overall a good soundtrack.

*Some* moments of the story are very good. It depends largely on how real you find the characters. Angus stands out for me as a character I loved, but I could see others finding contrived.

The bad:

The nighttime levels suck. I hated them. They aren't fun and their music is the worst in the game. They take too long to finish and generally overstay their welcome.

After the first 2 or 3 days I started to feel like I was doing chores. I had done much of the exploring on the first two days, and at that point I had a mental checklist of all the things I needed to do in a day before I could do the main story event for the day. By the last few days I started skipping things on my checklist as I felt those side-stories weren't interesting.

The overall philosophy the game pushes at the end is worn and tired. I thought I was in the target age demographic for this game, maybe if I had played it in my teens I would have enjoyed the ideas more, but they felt like things I already agreed with. Which is fine, but I don't feel like they presented these ideas super well either.

The story about a mining town also feels worn and tired, something I've heard plenty of times before.

And the ending sucks. No getting around it. It's pretty dumb. Without spoiling it, I had an expected level of suspension of disbelief that I was willing to engage in. The game cultivated that suspension of disbelief pretty well, and I was okay going along with it. Then it goes in a completely weird direction and just crushed that suspension of disbelief.

I really wanted to like this game. It's a shame it wasn't a lot shorter, as I suspect that would have helped a lot.

There really isn't much that's redeemable about this game in retrospect. No real role-play, narrative wise or mechanics wise. Combat isn't fun. The story is okay. The open world is terribly uninteresting.

Some of the quests and side-quests are pretty cool.

I know a lot of people liked the characters. I think they were pretty well written, but 3 months after playing, no one was particularly memorable outside of Jackie.

I really can't recommend this to anyone though, not in it's current state. In 2 years from now, maybe it'll be a mediocre game. That's about it though. The core game itself isn't very good, and unless they were to do major system reworks post-launch, that's what it's going to be.

I've had this controller for about a month now and it is by far, my favourite controller I own. Gyro controlls are great for aiming and the dual touchpads feel great, i just wish the one on the left wasn't so close to the thumbstick. Sometimes while I'm pushing up and to the right, my thumb will accidentally hit the touch pad. While this can be fixed with some customization in through the men, it is still a little annoying. Overall, great controller
