I'm torn between awe and aggravation as I write this review.
Fragpunk is a masterpiece in many ways, with a unique art style that's both visually stunning and eerily captivating.
The innovative shard card mechanic adds a fascinating layer of strategy, allowing for complex combinations and clever playmaking.
The gunplay is smooth and satisfying, with a wide range of weapons that feel distinct and powerful.
The gameplay is equally impressive and very smooth.
The progression system is rewarding, with a sense of accomplishment that comes from getting unlocks for both lancers & weapons as you play.
The challenges are similarly well-designed, providing a sense of satisfaction when completed.
But, unfortunately, my experience with Fragpunk has been marred by one major issue: the game's online performance is atrocious.
High ping and lag make it nearly impossible to play in South Africa.
It's a shame, because Fragpunk has the potential to be a modern classic. The developers have clearly poured their hearts and souls into creating a unique and engaging gaming experience.
But until there are servers for South Africa, I cannot experience the game for the masterpiece it is & therefore cannot give it a positive review.
