I think MIO is the best metroidvania I have seen in the last decade, taking the best of so many different hits (Ori, Hollow Knight, Ninesols, etc...), while adding a very cool visual style that is just so charming.

The movement is amazing, the first movement ability you get is exciting to any Ori fans, yet somehow the second movement ability makes that one feel basic in comparison (which is a good problem to have lol), it's just so fun to move around with. There are a lot of movement sections, which was something I felt hollow knight was missing, and feels like a nice return to the older style of 2D metroidvania design with a healthy mix of platforming and combat.

I strongly disagree with most negative reviews, apart from on the point that the runbacks are unfortunately a bit too long, in the same way that silksong struggled with. Once you get movement abilities they become quicker, but still would be something I would like to see changed. I think a lot of the negative reviews come from people playing the game like it was hk/ss, as most of their concerns seem solveable using the unique abilities of this game, so if you have an open mind I think these shouldn't be particularly problematic. In general this game is very forgiving, both in it's platforming and it's combat, while still proving challenge in both areas. It just feels good to play haha.

The bosses are easier than they are in games like Silksong, but feel a lot nicer to me (no permanent collision hitboxes, many ways to get i-frames, telegraphed attacks, not a single hitbox that felt unfair or unclear, etc...). I personally am a fan of a somewhat challenging but not dauntingly hard bossfight, and the boss designs were quite cool visually too :)

I am a fan of the story, if you enjoyed the ninesols story its of a similar but perhaps less explicitly explored mood. I found it very beautiful. The music as well is quite effective, and of course the artstyle is even more spectacular than you can see on the trailer. 10/10 artistry here.

All in all, a wonderful homage to so many wonderful games, and I think it manages to surpass all of them by taking some of their strongest points, despite a few minor flaws. Would 100% recommend people give this a go. ~20 hours to complete I would say.

I've played a few hours and it's very fun :)

Really cute aesthetic which is a blast to decorate, a relaxing farm which is super therapeutic, and (my favourite) a really interesting factory which plays just like a puzzle game! (with a ton of potential to improve at, optimise, and experiment with).

This game is a perfect example of being worth more than the sum of it's parts, and there's something in it for everyone - it's not the sort of game I would normally play, but so far I've had a blast, and look forward to playing more (THERE IS SO MUCH CONTENT O.O)

An amazing game, better than all the smash games imo, more fast paced and fluid moves. The variety achieved with the weapons, signitures, simple maps, gadgets, and legends makes this game just that much better.
Fun game not only to just hop on and play online, but also to mess around with friends in a custom lobby, play competitively, or just couch party :)
