$59.99 for what is essentially an early access title. The game lacks many features and much of the flavor that made previous installments instant classics. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it so far, but there's a long way to go before anyone can justify this price point.

The other criticism I have is the campaign. I haven't played them all yet, but it feels like they're reading from a textbook. Some history buffs might like this, but I think I would have preferred a narrative campaign. Instead of being completely detached from historical characters -- watching "ghosts" over contemporary footage of battlefields -- I would rather feel like these conflicts are happening right now on my screen.

Early Access Review
If you loved Warband and can handle playing an Early Access title, buy this game. If you've never played a Mount and Blade title but are looking for a fresh new medieval sandbox, buy this game. Stick with it through the learning curve, the bugs, and the sometimes rough-around-the-edges community, and you'll be coming back to this one for years to come, especially after the modding community gets their hands on it.

Graphically impoverished, broken after years of development, and better than any other title I have ever played. On the eve of Bannerlord's release, even after nearly 2,000 hours, I haven't gotten everything out of this game that I could have. It is infinitely giving, and I am thankful.
