It's an extremely simple game to learn. If you love tower defense, I would definitely recommend this game! The only downside is that there isn't really much "content". There's no "story" despite the cute intro which actually featured some characters and voice acting. There are only three "maps" which are in the form of planets. Though, there are around 5 game-modes and plenty of challenging achievements to strive for!

The story of this game is around Dust, an anthropomorph that wakes up in the middle of a forest with no memories. You travel the lands trying to figure who you are while also helping out the people you meet along the way. I think the game focuses the most on its art and its story and although I don't have a harsh opinion on its game mechanic, I feel like there could've been more than just reworked art to same monsters-types.

Combat & Control
The combat system is based on a series of combos that is very easy to learn and different types of monsters & abilities are introduced along the way. The combos are easy to learn and pretty repetitive, but I didn't mind. Abilities were introduced throughout the game and are essential in being able to go back to previous maps to get previously obtainable treasure while also necessary to move ahead. I used an XBOX controller so it was a pretty easy ride for me and I liked playing this game when I just wanted to sit back in my chair and bash some buttons. The jumping was a bit annoying at first because I think it didn't have a "push down longer to jump for longer" mechanic so every jump was the same distance, even if you would give just a slight love tap to the jump button. Overall, I didn't mind the repetition of the combos and the new abilities kept the combat and exploring the world a bit more interesting.
As for the monsters, there were a lot of variety but there was definitely some "reskinning" going on as you enter different zone. For example, there was a type of monster that would explode if you got to close and in another "snowy" zone, it was just redrawn blue with snow on it. I thought it was cute, but it did leave something more to be desired in fighting new types of foes. Still, I'd like to emphasize that there was still a lot of variety and there's no harm in using the same monster-type at a higher skill area.

World Exploration
Although there might have been some reskinning, I think I was able to look past it because each zone usually brought a new way to explore the world or puzzles that you had to solve to get the "treasures" scattered across the land. Like I mentioned earlier, you get introduced to new abilities and these abilities help you reach new places. For example, in the beginning of the game, Fidget points out a wall of vines that you have not yet learned how to climb and suggests we come back later. There are definitely some treasures that you would not be able to reach without certain learned abilities and would have to come back later to get them. And if you don't want to get them, that's fine too. The treasures are not vital in the end-game and are only for bragging rights and exploring the world. You also have to use these abilities and navigate around the map to get to the next zone so each area isn't just a mindless journey of button mashing.

Art (Voice Acting, Graphics, Music)
I've heard some people get really annoyed with the voice acting, and I can see where they're coming from. Fidget, your Navi-like companion, has a pretty squeaky voice and can be a little obnoxious to some and I found myself a little annoyed at some of the characters myself... Nonetheless, I think there was a lot of effort put into narrating pretty much every single line that is ever spoken in this game and I took the time to listen and read along. The backgrounds were pretty fantastic as well and there was just so much love put into every zone! I really loved the music as well and most them are very memorable! The only con is that there is just so much going on with aesthetic sometimes and there were some glitches with areas that were in complete darkness.

Story
Hey I admit it - I cried a bit and not just once! I can't really talk too much about the story without spoiling so I'll say this: they do have some cliche stories. Some "ideas" and plots didn't really resonate well with me either (e.g. Dust reacted differently than I expected to certain events, some plots didn't make too much sense with me, there were some missing plotholes...) Regardless, I thought it was quaint. Someone more critical than me might think the story was pretty sloppy... but who knows!

Basically, this game isn't perfect but that didn't stop me from finishing it and obsessing over the hidden treasures... oh the hours I wasted! I suppose I'd recommend this game, but it may not be some people's cup of tea.

First off: The narrator of this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing.
And not only that, the gameplay is actually pretty rad! Puzzle action platformer with a co-op or solo story mode, arena mode where you battle it out with 3 other players other than yourself, etc. You gather gems and yarn which you exchange for random "faces" and weapons you can put on while you're playing. I also love that it's controller compatible!

Fun game. You must survive in the wilderness by being clever, resourceful, and efficient! Many places to explore and you can unlock new character as you earn experience by death. Can't wait for the Don't Starve Together update!

Fast paced platformer-type(?) game with a unique mouse-keyboard control system. Extremely fast paced and bosses are interesting and non-repetitive. Each stage always bring something new with the theme, game mechanics, enemies, and more. A gradual and steady learning curve that makes it challenging but not unbeatable. Art is also absolutely gorgeous - wish I could take a breather and just admire it! So many good things about this game. A steal for only $4.99!

First thing you notice about this game is its beautiful scenery and detail in every backdrop. Gorgeous game overall. Single player, you'll be playing through various puzzles, switching between three characters each with special abilities and using them to get past various obstacles. Playing multiplayer with your friends will make it easier and harder at the same time - make sure you guys can work together well! Definitely recommend this game.

A game not for the faint of mind! Requires quick reactions on the fly and the vivid colors makes you feel like you've just taken a little too much of some illegal drugs. Very addicting.
