Don't play this without portals.

It's alright I guess, VERY arcady though (even Battlefield 4 had more complex and 'realistic' plane combat).
Get it when its cheap - if you like that kinda singleplayer air combat game. Not neccessarily a must-play. I gotta say however that it is very scenic at times and can be quite exciting.

If you are looking for an arcady pvp aircraft game, dont get this, instead go for the (free!) game Air Brawl which is way more enjoyable (pvp matches in this game only go on for 5 minutes, then you will be booted to a lobby screen for 5 minutes before you can get in the next round; also, pvp is very imba and not worth the time).

Damn, the Gathering's fleet got hands...
