Doesn't merely hold up to its reputation but exceeds it vastly.
But who am I telling this, if you are into RTS, you probably already know all about AoE2 and own it.
If you don't own it yet - get it, you will not regret it.

When this game caught my attention, I was quite intrigued. Its concept appealed to me, a larger scale, futuristic battlefield seemed right up my avenue. Of course, due to its F2P nature, it might be a bit P2W but that shouldn't be too big of an issue, should it?
Little did I know that I would soon regret my very decision to install.

Monetization:
It is basically pay to progress, there is roughly half a dozend different currencies, you earn *some* premium currency passively, but this means you need to grind for hours just to unlock a new gun or attachment. The latter of which dont carry over between weapons, some of which are quite neccessary for having a good experience. People who put hundreds of hours/dollars into the game will *absolutely* have a *fundamental* advantage over newer players in every category, be it equipment, health, stats and whatnot. P2W/Grind players have more health, stronger abilities, weapons, more grenades, better tacticals, repair faster, heal faster, regenerate ammo, etc etc.
Also, if you are stupid enough to give real money to these scumbags, daybreak spits into your face by grossly overpricing everything. Ten bucks just to unlock a new gun (without any attachment whatsoever) or a 2x scope for your tank (which will NOT carry over between different turrets even for this specific tank) is outrageous.

Graphics:
The graphics are absolutely awful. Visibility, especially on longer ranges is horrid, you will not be able to spot foot soldiers at distances 100m+ due to the mushy and washed-out graphics and textures. Every map is shady and dark with little to no contrast, and the game lacks any graphics settings that would make up for this. This might have been considered alright ten years ago, when everyone had 1024x768 4:3 monitors, but now it is where the game really shows its age and how it has been neglected by its developers.

Gameplay on Foot:
The Gunplay is awful. Due to the game having a tickrate somewhere in the range of 0.02 and 0.5, hitreg is hideous. Weapon bloom is extreme on full auto weapons, to a point where even unmounted LMGs in BF3 seem more accurate. At least the hipfire is solid for most weapons, although this makes the awful hitreg even more noticeable.
There is quite the choice of different classes, although you will find some classes significantly more useful than others. Also, you will have to unlock a chunk of your abilities and tacticals first as the game forces you to grind for those, and you will have to grind even more to open up alternative choices for these. Choosing engineer for using vehicles is basically mandatory, and this game mostly revolves around vehicles doing the heavy lifting, so prepare to use this role for about 70% of playtime.
On foot, prepare to consistently lose out to cloakers which basically have initiative in every engagement (although they still are visible somewhat, they blur into the washy graphics to a point of being indistinguishable). Adding to that, cloakers also have access to 1HTK rifles, which they use to instagib you at longer ranges whilst remaining unpunished and instantly becoming invisible again.
There is a Light infantry class that allows for greater movement by jetpack, these also have access to a Rocklet rifle which seems utterly useless in both anti vehicle and anti aircraft roles (and yes, I hit my shots).

Gameplay in Ground Vehicles:
Ground vehicles is where this game excels at, it is very close to a more arcady Battlefield, which isn't half bad. This seems to be the most balanced way to play, however the P2W whales will still have a significant advantage but can be brought down if played right.

Gameplay in Air Vehicles:
For some reason, this game does not offer rebinding mouse controls, which kills my experience. I played battlefield beforehand and gotten used to this control scheme, and now my muscle memory is ruining my experience with aircraft. I have no clue why this is not offered here. I have read up on this on the reddit and other threads, and the playerbase seems very gate-keepy about it. Some ague that it would be way to easy to pick off infantry with aircraft, others argue from a realism standpoint. Imo, allowing rebinding yaw to mouse left and right is a simple accessibility feature. The game has a broken concept of damage overall, so skewing some values to give a higher TTK aircraft to infantry doesn't seem all too difficult. Also, this game is not realistic WHATSOEVER, and even Arma 3 (popular milsim) offers rebinding these keys, so I do not see how this is problematic.

Conclusion:
Apart from playing with your mates where I admit it can be fun, I see no reason to play this pile of trash. Even EA AAA games are more customer friendly.
If you are looking for a persistent world MMO and are ready to spend a little money, go get Foxhole instead. Its isometric view might be weird and unusual at first, but I can absolutely guarantee that it will be a more pleasant experience than PS2. Also, there is none of that P2W or P2Progress there. Arma 3 would be a wiser choice, too - I bet you can easily buy Arma 3 and all its DLCs for less money than you will spend here just trying to compete.

Pales in comparison to Hotline Miami 1, no need to play 2 if you played 1.

Gameplay is about ankle-deep and not satisfying in the slightest, it mostly boils down to grinding credits and resources. Exploration is fun, I guess, if you fancy flying about procedurally generated planets that pale in comparison to No Man's Skys for mediocre payoff.
Pay for a DLC just to get your ass off the pilots seat and walk on a station or on a planet for (what ive heard, didn't buy that ♥♥♥♥) the wonkiest and cheapest FPS combat imaginable.

Funny little PvP game, it certainly shows potential but currently is a bit bare-bones to say the least.
Might I suggest for a start adding different sizes of AI fishing and merchant ships which are only lightly armed at best and allow for a more auxillerating experience than just collecting debris?
Maybe add some upgrades to allow the player to customize their ships.
What could be added further down the line would be some sort of trade outpost mechanic where you can buy and sell goods at different outposts at different prices to get dabloons to buy upgrades for your ships?

One of the best CO-OP shooters I've played, an absolute blast and very atmospheric due to the gorgeous lighting effects and great sound design. Also, the soundtrack SLAPS!

Nice mechanics, highly addictive and not f2p at all.
After one or two tech tiers it gets incredibly grindy and unfun and highly incentivises ingame-purchases.
Don't play this, its utter trash and will make you regret every second you spent in this game.
