Early Access Review
This game is surprisingly fun. Zombie pathing, item movement, and mob spawning is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wonkey as hell, but this game is still very fun.

There's lots of exploration, building, inventory, surviving nights, creepy stuff, and I think there's some sort of storyline.

The monster AI/pathing is easily the worst part. Even with the really cool survival/recipe book, a lot of it is unexplained, so you have to decide between looking stuff up on a wiki or not. I suggest having everybody you play with not unless you get stuck, and even then limiting what you read about to just what you need to get unstuck.

It's like grow home but way more expansive and less finer detailed. Think, gta vice city -> gta san andreas. Still fun, but not quite as special.

played monopoly with two friends. felt like playing monopoly.

workshop has every tabletop, card game, trading card game, and original games that you can think of.

to top it off, it has an ipad built in to it that actually browses the internet. perfect for looking up rules or distracting people with porn gifs

This game is free and takes about an hour.

Don't read anything about this game and dont look at the screenshots.

Set aside about 1 hour. Sit down on a rainy slow day with nobody around and nothing bothering you.

Borderlands (for the mechanics and interesting weapons and Diablo like gunplay with gear and shield) + GTAV (for the size and random cutscenes and vehicles) + WOW (for the mmoish) + FireFall (for the randomness and modern randomness)

For the meager price of free, this game offers a surprising amount. Quite promising in the begining, slower after, and finally opening up once you realize how it all works. After one day, I don't see this becoming the next big game to play, but for a few days of binge playing with friends (I did it by myself since my friends were being lazy jerkoffs at the time) would surely not disappoint and is easily worth the time to download.

Lag plus bad AI pathing is easily the most detrimental problem I've run into.

UPDATE (9/8/15):
I just spent all of my points working my way from the bottom right corner of the skilltree (where blur is) to the top left (bio buffs) only to find that you have to buy the DLC to unlock any of those perks.

so, not only did i waste all of my points for nothing, the game doesnt even contain the skills that I thought it did.

nowhere on the perk or skilltree or anything does it say they are dlc only. I'm actually pretty done with this game after however many hours that's been. maybe I'll play again in the future just to do stuff, but from borderline considering unlocking new content by buying dlc and supporting this game, I've completely swung the opposite direction and am never going to give any support for that kind of developer behavior.

Note to DEVS (protip):
If you want people to support your game, don't be a piece of ♥♥♥♥. Because in the end, the consumers are the ones with the money, and there are a lot more games for us to play than yours.

Not much else to say about this game. The trailer represents this game pretty well.

Imagine learning to walk, this joyous amazing new thing, only to find that you'll never actually be better at it and forever re7arded. You can eventually teleport and do other unlockable skills, but the base running/climbing is made in such a way that you have to manually get better at it. This is a good thing because it means you improve at your own pace.

My only critisisms are:
-I kind of wish it wasnt such a lonely world. It's weird to say that because that IS the lore and entire feel of the game.
-It makes me want more than I'm afraid it will be able to offer, content wise. I dont KNOW for sure, I just have a feeling at this time.
-The physics can be difficult or unpredictable. For example, bunny hopping accelerates you really quickly, but some floating rocks are super difficult to stand on because they slowly drop.

The game suggests using a controller, but I've had absolutely no issue with mouse and keyboard.

Extra points for the music, ambience, and unique and consistent artstyle.

So far, this has been the best grand theft auto.

Definitely opened my ears to music that was before my generation. And art. And style. And solid helicopter controls.

In the games that improved upon the techological shortcomings of Vice City, they lost other thigns that were much more important. For example: in gta4 they had... no, nevermind bad example.

For example: in San Andreas, they had a much more dynamic map with more terrain than vice city had. In SA, they made a much bigger map and reincluded things like mountains and actual hills. Great additions. They also added things like girlfriend minigames, gang territory, better modeled car suspension, and more interaction with properties, oh and swimming which was a turning point in the series.

But what the series slowly lost was that FUN sparkle, the tooty fruity stereotype magic that is felt in things like disney or other cartoons. The gang overarching was cool and all in SanAndreas, but after a while in the game, it brought a seriousness that I did not welcome in Grand Theft Auto. And with the release of GTA4, I think we all should have known something was up. That game lacked all which is enjoyable. It was like windows vista.

I've gotten far off topic. What I'm saying is, if you can think about a comparrison to a later (or earlier, actually, huh...) GTA, most likely, the change was either bad overall or pointless.

Like most great things, unless you break them down into tiny itsy bitsy little mechanics and details, the only way to describe the greatness of it is to equate it to some unquantifiable magic.

In this case, however, I just feel like the over-the-top satire Miami Vice was the PERFECT setting, and I'd like to see GTA6 in the same vein, since with GTA5 it seems like they had a last minute realization, and are slowly working their way back from GTA4.

theres a long way to get there, but Rockstar (the developer) is thankfully moving in the right direction.

value (for a newcomer with a patience for low poly graphics): 50$
Current value (if I needed to play it again and didnt own it): 15$

which is saying a lot since I dont often give praise to games. FYI - I played this on ps2, might not be the same experience on pc.

like the original zelda games. but with no saveable progress. and weird dark humor. and it feels like a flash game on newgrounds. probably was then they decided to sell it.

whatever. as far as depth and "game", this is basically an arcade game.

value: $0.25 per play..... NAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I dont know, it really depends on who you are, because I can see why you'd like it. I just didn't.

seriously though, value: <9$
