After many years devoted to the Total War series, I decided to give the Paradox games a go when CS2 was on sale. I never expected that this game would become the single game I've played more than any other in my twenty-five years of gaming. The character/dynasty depth goes far deeper than the simple character portraits alude to. The challenge of taking a simple count and surviving, then thriving, is what I'm all about. I usually strive to form a large kingdom or empire, then I settle in with no intention of expanding. I prefer to build alliances and defend my Faith. When I inherit large swaths of territory unexpectedly, I begin decades long plans to give it up. The biggest challenge is powerful neighbors. Sometimes I am forced to wait for a hundred years or more to slowly get what I want. Timing is everything. You'll spend countless hours making plans, and twice as long struggling with unexpected calamities. Simple traits like 'craven' or 'lustful' will give you nightmares. The game deserves more than my recommendation, and I easily rate it 100/100. Hands down, the greatest game I've ever played.
