it's so good. got an amazing hypnotizing quality to it, like sonic meets subway surfers and i can't take my eyes away. soundtrack is fantastic, art and models are beautiful, and i just keep wanting to play more every time i put it down. i booted the demo up every day for multiple weeks because even just the core gameplay without the full polish of the final game was already so enthralling. it rockssss

TLDR: very highly recommend it - maybe not at present if you're on the fence about it because it did have a bit of a rough launch and is plagued by a couple of issues, but it was still a enjoyable, charming time and the game's only gonna get better from here between free content updates and fixes to some of the more common complaints.

wordier but not very well formatted/edited version:

exploration is a blast, the overworld abilities all feel crazy powerful and make for some very unique puzzle-like platforming. definitely the high part of the game

combat is dynamic, very customizable thanks to the multiple characters you take control of. you have plenty of ways to avoid enemies and engage with them in the overworld, which helps with the issue of a lack of a 'flee from battle' button.

checkpoints are frequent, and the save system is smartly implemented, allowing you to reload almost any save made on the same slot

very fun writing and story. entertaining characters who vibe off of each other nicely, plus a couple fitting twists and turns. wordy but quite lighthearted, with the occasional pinch of seriousness in particular when it comes to Ajna's character arc.

stunning animations full of life, lovingly designed characters, and a slappin' soundtrack. it's not a perfect game - there's some glitches here and there, plus some valid complaints regarding the difficulty curve and such.

however, not only was what I played already a good time (and charming enough to make me infatuated with the game), but the devs are very vocal about improving the game and already working on both some content updates, primarily new characters, and also a few fixes regarding some of the most prevalent complaints. their track record with Skullgirls also leaves little reason to worry on that front, imo.

my god what a game. There's really not an other way to describe it - it's the game that most faithfully immerses itself in its own medium that I've ever seen, pulling the player along with it. Beautiful art and a captivating soundtrack, with an unsettling world that fills one with a sense of mystery and dread...

OneShot is one incredible experience of a game. I'm so glad I found out about it. And hey - new content is coming soon... and seeing as I already think this base game is pretty worth the playthrough, I can only imagine what a story expansion will add to it.
