This game was.... not fun. It's a VERY slow burn horror game, with deep survival mechanics and lorebuilding that ultimately leads to.. nothing. A lot of the story doesn't really make that much sense, or relies on the player to make assumptions about what happened. The survival aspect of the game doesn't really lend much to it at all; and more than once made my save become softlocked because I couldn't go anywhere without dying once I had run out of matches and lighter fuel. It also relies on cheap jumpscares and loud noises to startle the player. You will very often get stuck and have to look up guides on how to progress. The moment I have to do something like that, you have ultimately failed in game design. Otherwise, it's well produced, and plays a lot like a bloober team game. Unfortunately it doesn't mean much if it's just not fun to play. Which may very well have been the point of the game, but for me; it's a hard pass. I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone, even horror fanatics.

This game had a decent amount of potential, but it was completely overshadowed by the complete reliance on unreal store assets; with very scripted and shallow gameplay. 2.5 years later, and the game still does not have a liminal mode, with entire levels removed from the next fest 2022 demo. The game is hard to see anything in, with the pixelation filter being way too harsh and no way to turn it off. Since its latest update, one of the last levels is currently not possible to progress through, a shame. Even for 8 dollars, this does not provide enough original gameplay or ideas to the table; on top of it not being finished and full of paid assets. It's truly a shame. I wouldn't recommend you buy this game.

Functionally a walking simulator centered around liminal spaces. Perfect if that's what you're looking for, as there isn't much in the way of story, game puzzles, or horror of the sort. There is a cliffhanger at the end of the game that will never be resolved, unfortunately. It had a lot of potential, and what's there is good; the dev has just given up. The game looks great, a lot like how real spaces look. Soundtrack is very nice, with licensed tracks from indie/dream/bedroom pop artist JORDANN. I like this game in general, I just wish it was more. It was worth the money I spent on it, but I can't guarantee that other people will feel the same. I recommend it if these things do not bother you. Otherwise, look elsewhere; like pools or the complex.

This is THE VR game that you were waiting for. Boneworks level physics, great controls, great soundtrack, mods are an easy install and function flawlessly, game feels incredibly polished and never crashed for me. This is my new favorite VR game, and i'm certain this is the future.

This game is a huge lot of fun, the minigames aren't a total slog, and were actually pretty fun. The writing and dialogue were spot on to what I would expect! Obviously I can't expect old characters to come back, but some old references were a nice touch. The only thing I didn't like was just how short the experience was and/or the lack of content. The overall experience was good, just I wish there was more to do! If the devs added an expansion with a new case every now and then it would be one of the best story based vr games I have ever played! If you're a big fan of sam & max like me, you'll like this game.

From the ashes of depravity rises the phoenix of quality. How else to describe "Barotrauma"? Such a revolutionary step forward in the lineage of one of the most beloved game categories of all time! The additions and changes made to this genre will surely resonate in the annals of the history of all media ever made. It is perhaps true to say that no mistakes are forever etched in stone, for the stone into which Barotrauma was carved has itself been transmuted, offering a message of hope to those who have ever erred in their judgement. You are not beyond redemption. You may change, and you may become more, so much more than you were before. If there is any message to be taken from "Barotrauma", it is this... what a fortune, a privilege, a joy it is to have had such an experience it leaves me hopeful that as a community — as a world, there is time for us to become our greatest selves, as great as we ever could dream of in our wildest, most ambitious visions for a brighter future.
