Probably the most realistic CQC tactical shooter I've ever played, over. Also some the most REMOVE KEBAB I've ever heard in one place. Insurgency is a must have for any fan of either.

I'll write a proper review some other time. All you need to know is that this is easily one of my all time favourites.

  • The head of american illuminati corp is not a fat guy with slickback hair and a tweed suit smoking a cigar
  • it's a puerto rican woman.
  • Poorly enforced gender parity results in out-of-place token characters that have no personality.
  • Previously, the exceptional narrators and other voice actors were the hallmark of any Civilization game. This time we get an ethnically ambiguous female narrator with an accent so thick that it causes physical pain. It's like having honey boo boo read the lines.
  • The 3d artists did a truly outstanding job, especially with the trailers. Thankfully, this is overshadowed by the eye-watering ugliness of the 2d interface, icons, tech tree and civilopedia.
  • Wonder splash screen is black and white concept art that hasn't been coloured in.
  • Every single icon, all of the art and everything in the civilopedia is black and white.
  • The only things coloured in are victory screens and they look like something I could draw.
  • There are no more quotes. No Lem, no Asiimov, no Stephen Hawking, no nothing, just edgy snippets from instagram or justgirlthings.
  • Victory screen speech sounds like the narrative to a porn film in space.
  • The interface is an avalanche of visual clutter that is only partially oblique to make things even harder to see.
  • Leader dialogue is always exactly the same. Each faction has exactly three unique lines, one of each: hello, trade and defeat. The rest are identical for all factions.
  • Most all of the dialogue is a verbatim copy-paste from Civ5. I wish I was making this up.
  • Spend most of the game re-assigning trade routes.
  • The only promotions available from combat are +10% strength or heal instantly.
  • Alpha Centauri had better mechanics 15 years ago (1999).
  • They tried to innovate and it really shows, but we ended up with an unbalanced, buggy, unplayable mess. Events are always the same. One choice always completely eclipses the alternative. Some perks are always better. Multiplayer is completely busted. The game doesn't even try to be fun after the early stage, so you might as well just play the demo which cuts you off after 100 turns or so.
  • This game is a horrendous downgrade from BNW. It's worse than Civilization 5 was before the balance patches and expansion packs and would have been slammed even if it came out 10 years ago, let alone in 2014.
  • The reviews are like Bioshock Infinite all over again.

tl;dr
gameplay dumbed down even more, everything looks like concept art, all the icons are black and white (yes, all of them), the interface is a cluster****, painful narrator, no quotes, uncanny valley gender parity and political correctness

I really wanted a solid Civilization title, but only somebody under hypnosis could claim to enjoy this one. Looks like the devs were given a deadline that no honest man could meet on top of shoehorning in a progressive agenda. Don't be a dummy like me. Vote with your wallet and stay away from this kind of product as well as any expansion packs. This title is beyond saving.

A good title to go into with low expectations and be pleasantly surprised.

The gameplay is best summed up as an Uncharted game where you can't jump. It's only fitting, since it's voiced by the same guy who did Nathan Drake, as well as Deadpool in every video adaptation so far. You will get the most out of this game if you come in with low expectations and just drop 5$ on it without reading spoilers or reviews.

It's good, but not essential. The basic XCOM released in 2012 was entirely sufficient, and none of the DLC is really necessary.

I would advise you to finish XCOM:Enemy Unknown first. You will then be able to decide as to whether or not you want a second playthrough of the same game with the same ending, only with gene mods and robots.

While the variety of new mechanics may be fascinating at first, they really kill the difficulty and game balance, as well as introducing bugs. Nonetheless XCOM:Enemy Within is still a pleasant experience that I would recommend as long as you play it on very hard.

PS: Still no multiplayer

Croteam is best known for making games about a buff guy in a t-shirt dual wielding miniguns to shoot headless kamikazes with bombs instead of hands who run at you screaming AAAAAAAAAA while the protagonist makes fourth wall jokes and rock music plays in the background.

Then the Talos Principle shows up completely out of nowhere, and surprises everyone as a pseudo-philosophical-puzzle-platformer with a striking level of depth. It must've been at least decade since the last time I couldn't find any plotholes in a game, and the last circumstances I would expect to break the streak would be in a Croteam title. The puzzles are what you'd expect, but the story is airtight, and the game is riddled with such a gargantuan amount of secrets that you can go grey without finding them all. There is literally a 2 hour playlist on youtube showcasing nothing but easter eggs. Note: Be warned that the steam achievements contain spoilers. Do not read them lest you find your experience ruined.

This game is undoubtedly a dark horse which had never been thought of, and in the last place you'd expect. I cannot recommend it enough to any fan of the genre, the studio, or to anyone who is easily amused by pseudo-philosophy. You have no excuse for not buying it, should a less pricey version show up.

What I expected was a straightforward puzzle game. What I got instead was trolled into an existential crisis by the creators of Serious Sam.

Ever since this game migrated to Steam there have been problems. They've somewhat improved online play so I guess it's time to lift the negative review, but the netcode is still riddled with redundancies.

I cringe at the thought of saying this, but Games For Windows Live did it much better. I believe that the Microsoft platform has been completely shut down, though.

Other than that, I don't really have much to say. Street Fighter 4 has been with us since 2008 and you ought to know everything about it by now. Multiplayer may laggier than it was last year, but SF4 still remains as one of my all time favourite titles.

Early Access Review
Very polished for a beta. I am eager to see what they come up with as time goes on.

You may not get hooked right away, but this is easily one of the greatest titles in PC gaming history. A must-buy.

This is easily one of the best, if not the best strategy game I've ever played. Despite hesitating for years before buying it, I ended up rather impressed by this 2011 game, and so are the countless others still showing up for multiplayer every day. I'm having trouble coming up with any reasonable bad things to say. While balance is never perfect, it looks good in comparison to other titles after four years of patches. The tutorials aren't very helpful, I guess? The campaign tutorial is the only one worth doing.

Shogun 2, whether it's on sale, or whether you like the genre, is an absolute no-brainer. By far one of the best titles on steam.
