As a person who has played a fair few horror titles in the past, i can say that compared to Outlast 1, this game does not hold a candle. The horror scenes are incredibly hard to complete, meanining a specific pass must be followed. And that the tension is built through poor "oh ♥♥♥♥ he saw me" moments alone. Beyond that, it is simply a "I guess this isn't how the developers intended it to be done" game.

Perhaps Outlast Chronicles can be different but unless they give more control to the player and more control to the AMBIENT scares, I will not be purchasing the next game....

Please note I have given this game a chance, 6.5 hours in and every scare has been a set path and every non-scare has been woefullying unimpressive. Outlast 1 had moments where I would be thinking any moment I could get jumped whereas outlast 2 has had me thinking "Oh this is a safe section, this is a scare section. Oh wow an enemy I must avoid....

Thouroughly Unenjoyable. If people find this scary, this must be their first horror experience.

Two years down the line, I now love this game. It feels more balanced and I'm enjoying it a thousand times better.

The UI has grown on me now, albeit its not the best.

Point 2 also has not changed.

Point 3 though, zoo wee mama, the AI is super useful in warfare but hangs around your men a little bit too much.

Point 4, i got gud.

In the games current state, I cannot recommend this game. Well I can, it's not terrible - not by a long shot. However there are some glaring issues present with this game.

1) The UI is horribly designed - I find myself clicking through many things to try to find something. The CK2 UI was far better at presenting you with important information right there and then, instead of being hidden beneath layers of menus and side screens

2) The map modes are sorely lacking. Forget the diplomacy map, development, control. Nah, terrain is about the only useful one you'll find other than the overall realms.

3) The AI. Oh my god the AI. It is an insult to call it Artificial "Intelligence" as they seem to be more bumbling idiots throwing troops into poor positions, regardless of nearby armies. Allies will seldom come to aid you in battle, even if it is in defence of their lands! Additionally, your Vassals. Yeah forget about them they're nothing but show. Every fight will be from your own levies and without aid. Even if it is foreign raiding parties who you aren't at war with. Doesn't matter to your Counts, as far as they're concerned its not even their issue. In the time I have played this game I don't believe I've seen my vassals raise levies against anyone.
The combat and military planning in this game feels very similar to EU4, in the sense that you will be overrun and knocked back down to the bottom.

4) Remember the vikings? Of course, they were a very formidable force in the early medieval period. If you play anyone in Europe, you'll find out just how formidable. Nordic countries have basically free Casus Belli against, well everyone, and on top of that enough ships to transport the entire world to mars and back. This is because ships and navies are a given. They don't exist. There is no such thing as building a ship. No matter how many men you embark, there is enough ships to get them where ever. Defeat an army on the British Isles? They'll just get on a boat that was, of course, harboured in the Themes and get out of there. Additionally, in 867 the Vikings start with many free troops. 5000 low tier units and ~1500 elite troops. Compare this to the 1000 men Mercia start with along with the rest of the Isles, you'd think you'd be able to take those 5000 on? Well, aside from the AI being incompetent as discussed, these supposedly weak unintimidating forces will simply doom stack wipe you. Fun stuff.

Finally, this game is incredibly unclear as to why things are occurring. Without googling each specific problem, you will probably fall foul of some issue you could have prepared for, thus causing one of the many enemies you will be fighting at once to overwhelm you.


Paradox, please don't become another Bethesda and leave the modding community to fix your game for you. Please listen to these negative reviews which seem to say the exact same thing as one another. Make the game be something great, it has so much potential - however at this moment I can not recommend this game. It is a good game, with many good features which other reviews have highlighted however these issues really make this game not fun to play. It feels more like an uphill struggle against poorly implemented AI and mechanics.

At least it looks pretty though...

Great game but the combat and story are lacking. I can't really sympathise with the cube.

It's a GOOD game, but far from great. Now I know that it's Early Access, but really all that means is it's bugged to hell and we want you to pay for it. but nevertheless.

OK so whilst playing Galactic War i've noticed that the Enemy AI is very easy. You make an army of 40, attack win. Repeative, if we could the enemy to attack our planets and have some of the stuff we saved there, that'd be great.

No Skirmish! So theres no Skirmish missions, now yes you can go to multiplayer and play against a bot, but you can't save that.
I'd much prefer to play for a few hours, stop, return to it and play the same game.

And finally. DMR! It gets worse though, you can't play SINGLEPLAYER without an internet connection. It's brilliant!

BUGS! i've encountered numerous bugs, like not being able to link teleporters. Glitched Enemies on a lower plane. ( Metal worlds.)



Overall 7/10

Right so what we have here is a game in space. Simple enough. Then we dig deeper, now we're surviving and although it's not eating and fighting off pirates, it's still a challenge.

Now lets get even deeper. Making Bases and ships. With near infinate possiblitys of things to build.

The physics feel nice and the ships are beautiful

Space nerds buy this.




Oh and I challenge someone to make a borg ship. To scale.

Ok, I like the game but there are MAJOR flaws.
1) The Aspect ratio is fixed to 16:9 so black bars for us who don't have a 16:9 moniter.
2) Controls are pretty horrible, they're rebindable but badly IE Run is Left Mouse. Jump is E/Shift. They're just horrible
3)Parkour is no where near as fun as it is on a console. Buy the game, but for Xbox or Playstation.

EDIT After playing, it's alright, but still better on Console

Amazing RTS Can play for hours on hours, which I will be.
