The original Binding of Isaac was a phenomenal concept for the time, but the one big thing holding it back was the use of Flash as the programming environment. Now that it's been transplanted to a more flexible game engine, this is as close to perfect as you can get. There's just the right amount of quality-of-life tweaks too, like being able to save your progress during a run and come back to it later, right where you left off.

What's especially great for us veterans of the original game is that lots of the new content (bosses, enemies, items, what have you) is available right from the get-go, so right away you'll see it's not just a graphical overhaul.

I wouldn't call the soundtrack better or worse than Danny Baranowsky's music for the original game, but Mathias and Jon did an excellent job matching their background music to this version's much more grungy atmosphere.

Whether you played the hell out of the original game, enjoyed it despite (or because of) the extreme gross-out subject matter, or just want a new twist on randomly-generated dungeons, this is ABSOLUTELY up your alley.
