I cannot in good conscience recommend this game, especially not a full price. I play games for the gameplay. Regrettably, Starfield is a shallow and unimaginative game, especially disappointing as this is a new IP.

It's one thing to be adventurous and daring with your game and fail. It's another to play it safe and STILL fail. Starfield is sterile, lacking in imagination (Starborn is the new dragonborn amirite?), and the writing is below par, which I guess should be expected when you don't hire actual writers. It's as if they learned nothing from the praise that New Vegas received for its writing. The companions are shallow and one dimensional, I ended up going solo as I hated the company of the companions. We want good story and engaging companions, Fallout 4 wasn't a great story but still had Nick Valentine, who was a compelling character.

A big problem this game has for me is replayability. I actually think the NG+ mechanic is detrimental to the game as a whole. Most of the hours I accrued in this game were in my first playthrough as I took my time. But once I entered Unity and went into NG+, I just lost all interest in keeping going. The idea (At least in presentation) is to max your powers and see how your meddling with time affects the multiple dimensions. It turns into a grind and loses all point. NG+ is a waste of time.

Bethesda, you are being held to account because your design choices have not evolved. You are not listening to fans, you are antagonising them when they bring up legitimate criticism, you are not learning from your mistakes, and you aren't actually taking risks. Why is Larian and CDProjekt Red receiving praise while you are being criticised? Because they are taking risks and listening to criticism. The same happened upon No Man's Sky release. It was panned, the developers turned around and worked on it, and it became the game it set out to be and so much more. Be better Bethesda. Do not take fan loyalty for granted anymore and learn from your mistakes.

So....current ongoing game is the House of York, started off in Charlemagne's era.

House York climbs from lowly count to King of England.

Conquers Wales and then Scotland and then Ireland and forms the Empire of Albion.

Albion storms Scandanavia and elliminates the norse pagan raiders.

Albion storms Spain and drives out the moors.

By treachery and deceit, Albion secures Brittany.

Current Emperor is nicknamed 'The Wise'.

Heir to Empire gains nickname 'The Bear'

Think, 'sounds cool, better check him out'

Heir Wistan 'The Bear', Duke of York and heir to the Empire of Albion.

Wistan has also become Homosexual.

10/10 would raise Big Gay Bear to Emperor again

This is a very, very well thought out game.

For most of you, this is an addictive, story-driven police procedural which requires good intuition and tactics in order to keep crime in control and the City Hall off your back as you work your way to Jack Boyd's retirement.

The mechanics are easy to pick up, although figuring out tactics may require some learning (and some failing, dealing with City Hall will drive you nuts).

It is important to remind everyone that this is story-driven, and the story is pretty good, and well voice acted (Jon St-John, of Duke Nukem legend, is Boyd). A real gem is the soundtrack, almost all of it obscure jazz mined from Australia (Of all places).

This game is definitely worth an investment with addictive gameplay and excellent presentation to boot.

And finally, there are mountains of pop culture references for the keen eyed. I hired Vince Clortho as a detective, only to fire him when he turned up to work drunk.

10/10 would hire the Keymaster of Gozer again.

Sunless Sea is one of those rare games that is heavy in story and atmosphere, so much so that it can drag you into its world and leave you demanding to know more.

This is not an easy game to master. The general rule to start off with is...prepare to die.......a lot. There is still a lot the game is yet to implement in terms of story, gameplay, and balance. However, once more options become available, this game will really soar.

In terms of world creation, this a wondorous world, that of a New London submerged into an underground world after a hypothetical disaster. You are a Zee Captain, able to chose from a variety of backgrounds from a Street Urchin to a Philosopher, each giving bonuses and a starting crew member to chose from. Or you can chose no background, and remain a figure of mystery across the zees.

Recruit crew, make echoes (The currency of the Zee), upgrade your ships, kill monsters and pirates, become a merchant/smuggler, the choices are many. And if things go badly, you could leave yourself stranded at sea, the victim of cannibalism amongst the crew, or a vicious mutiny to depose your leadership.

The sound in this game is exceptional, and creates great atmosphere to the surroundings of the underground Zee, often you'll be caught in the music and forget about what you're doing for a brief second, before being brought back to awareness by a swarm of bats.

The map is random, which makes for fascinating exploration, and rewards are offered for exploration as well, which is a great incentive to get out there and check out the wide and open Zee.

All in all, this is an excellent game for those who love games heavy on story and background, who love well-developed worlds that become apparent piece by piece, and don't mind exploration.

While a few elements need addressing, such as the difficulty in making money (Which forces the player into a lot of grinding) and a few more story/quest elements to give more options, this game is a little gem that is worth playing and has the potential to get even better once it expands.

The world of the Zee is fascinating, and you'll be left wanting to know more. No matter how many captains die in the attempt to explore it.
