I just finished the Cook's Quest with the Warrior. With a bit of luck - Several good cards helped - I managed with only one death. Fun, and i'm sure this game has a lot more to develop. I'm excited to see what other stories the developers can pull us into. Very strong Diablo 1 vibes, the game manages to make a loot / weapon / powers system that feels unique, dynamic, and has an excellent flow. Still, I think the developers have some hard work ahead of themselves because the game has some punishing aspects that go beyond the problem-solving that they ask of you.

The Rogue is awkward in that, though she's a ranged class and can pick off enemies from afar, the layout of the game will PUNISH you with some of the dungeon's mechanics. As opposed to Diablo's open dungeon where the rogue can manage crowds at distance and retreat to maintain her range, this game has natural terrain that monsters can hide behind. Clever & sensible, this adds some planning to the rogue's actions. However, once you get to uniques in doored off areas, monsters can & will crowd the edge of a door/hallway and will rip apart the rogue if she wants to progress. This is...very frustrating. There's no way a rogue can circumvent this mechanic, so if you get a unique at the edge of an passageway? Best just to abandon your run. How can this change? I wonder if the rogue could *alter* the doors of a space to *grant* herself and monsters the ability to pass through? This would both allow her to retreat and defeat enemies without necessarily changing their difficulty, and making her need to attack a range mush less of an issue.

Still recommend this game, and I think it will be good for many more hours' worth of fun.

This game has some beautiful art and a wonderful story, but once you get to the second area, the game transitions from challenging to "if you don't have great reflexes, you suck." Worse, playing with a friend makes your already-toughened next-act enemies into hardened killers. If you're a fan of twitch games, give it a go, but otherwise there are more forgiving enterprises. A pity, too, because I really wanted to like this game =c
