This game represents the pinnacle of railroad simulation. I have been slaving away at university work for two years and change, and desperately craving some kind of work I could consider personally fulfilling. When I first started playing, it was like finding an oasis in the desert, and after a couple sessions I found myself logging upwards of six to eight hours a play session.

Kind of like Factorio, the game has a very long, slow, and rewarding progression loop that captures your attention like a steel trap, all the while really making you feel like you're getting somewhere. On top of that, the gameplay itself is fairly adaptable: you can take a more grounded, individual approach and just drive your trains around, you can focus on management and letting your trains run under CPU control, and you can bring your friends along to run the railroad cooperatively. Additionally, the "difficulty", mostly controlled by time scaling, can be freely adjusted to give you more or less time to play through each day.

The game, currently, is fairly primitive, all things considered. Most buildings are either absent or textureless boxes, captive service as a mechanic is significantly underdeveloped, etc. But that doesn't hold the concept back, and the game is incredibly fun regardless... that is, if you're already a big nerd for trains. Sadly, there just isn't much in the way of gameplay intrigue or story that would interest a casual audience, so if this is your first introduction to railroading, I can't say I'd recommend. But for the majority of the game's current audience, I couldn't recommend this game more.

Unlike Unity, Godot being FOSS (free and open source software) means they can NEVER institute predatory pricing models, even with a radical change of policy and direction. Nobody can ever take this engine away from you.

This game has become completely unplayable as F2P, let alone fun. Save your time, save your money, save your sanity, stay far away from here. This game is not one of honor. No highly esteemed deed is commemorated here. What is here is dangerous and repulsive to us.

There's nothing I need to say that you haven't already seen about this game and its virtually malicious devs. I deleted my VRC account and removed the game from my Steam library over this. It's just absolutely disgusting. Play NEOS instead.

This is not a game. Do not make that mistake when picking this up, you will be sorely disappointed. It's an interactive 3D diorama of what a future Mars colony might look like, and as far as that goes, it's easily the best I've ever seen. The visual design feels very similar to Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, with various tracked industrial vehicles performing tasks all around the base amid a red, sandy desert backdrop. Sure, there are some realism flaws, such as these vehicles being constructed out of steel and somehow carried to Mars on a rocket, but honestly that's easy to overlook. It's a pretty display, and in the case of a sci-fi diorama like this, that's most of what counts.

This game fits the desires of a very niche audience, that being model railroaders who want to do real detailed modeling but lack the tools, skills, or resources to do it in real life. It's very easy to pick up, and while I don't recommend trying to use VR due to the difficulty it creates with fine detailing, it is an option for those who have a headset. The game also has a relatively active content creation and modding community, and multiple places are available for downloading modded scenery, buildings, layouts, and trains, now including the Steam Workshop with the addition of the new Workshop-based prop modding and "QuickMod" system. Additionally, if you wish to create your own mods, there are copious tools that are easy to use and work great with the game.
The simplistic artstyle and low-poly models mean this game can run on a toaster with ease, and allows you to do insane amounts of detailing and massive layouts without incurring much of a performance hit.
All in all, I highly recommend this game to anyone interested in model railroading. With an entry cost of about 20 USD when it's not on sale and no further purchases or payments even exist, almost anyone can start their journey in the magnificent world of model trains.

This is honestly the best game I have ever played. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Even if rocket science isn't your forte it's super fun to goof around with.
