Early Access Review
Great shooting mechanics, an active community and just plain fun. Has that recipe games need for multiplayer success: easy to learn, difficult to master.

I've only played 3 hours, but I know its going to be a lot more than that in the end. The game's visuals are engaging without being showy, the gameplay is fantastic and the content fits the game very well. Of course, I would LOVE some kind of way to use my own songs with procedurally-generated maps or something but I get why that's not here and even though the music is not really what I would put on a playlist anywhere else, I still really enjoy playing the game to it.

This game is exactly what you want it to be: a shoot- and stab-fest, with gore and guns aplenty. Killing demons has never been so fun! I remember playing the original DOOM franchise fondly, and my expectations weren't just met, they were vastly exceeded! This is the game I have been waiting for Id to make since, well, probably sometime around Quake III. Very much looking forward to playing DOOM Eternal next. Also, despite the fact that the Single-Player Campaign's story doesn't have much to it, you still feel incentivized to explore, to hunt, and most of all, to frag, frag frag!

TL;DR: Guns. Shiny. Explosions. Demons. Blood. Powerups that literally let you punch demons into oblivion. In short: DOOM.

Great game, really good storytelling.

A really fun ride. The game provided many hours of entertainment and has a lot of replayability potential. I've gone back to play the single player campaign more than once, as there is SO MUCH to do in the game world that getting through it all is difficult just from a time perspective ---- this is a GOOD thing; what I mean is that the game is absolutely jam-packed with missions, side-gags and easter eggs, upgrades, explosions - whatever you want, Control probably has it and its cooler than you thought it ever could be.

If you liked Half-Life but don't feel like playing with textures from last century, buy this. They have put SO MUCH effort into it, and it looks and plays really, really well as a result. I have had this for a long time, and to see the amount of work they've put into it just continue to rise has been inspiring. Great work: thank you for bringing Half-Life to a whole new audience!

Classic Max Payne brought to a shinier engine. 'Nuff said? No? OK: It's Max Payne, so it has amazing bullet-time fun, tons of dudes to shoot through the face, good guys bad guys all mixed up, just like all the best noir-themed games. And it is - noir, I mean. It's like Brazil Noir, but Max is still Max: loves his guns and painkillers. The difficulty settings make it easy to choose whether you want to just breeze through a level or if you want to battle it out. There are also fun arcade modes, a few levels that are good throwbacks to NYC Max Payne, and plenty of fun to be had, even these many years later.

When it doesn't crash, it's a very fun game. The ability to change difficulty levels of only one aspect of the game (combat, puzzles, etc) makes it impossible to just "hit a wall" and quit (sometimes a problem with games like these). Considering that its the third game in the series, its smart that the player begins the game with more weapons/items than previous versions, but it doesn't go overboard - there is still much to earn, and progress feels satisfying. The "Lara's Nightmare" sequence is interesting, too, and shows that the game devs were interested in rounding out Lara's character. I enjoyed and appreciated that.

First, it's ALWAYS fun to kill Nazis. I mean, its a basic rule of FPS games. In addition to that, the devs obviously put A LOT of work and thought into creating the world in which one gets to shoot/explode/disintegrate/destroy all those Nazis. Lots of in-world models that are very cool and the levels are worth exploring, rather than being repetitive. All in all, you just can't go wrong picking this one up if you're a fan of single-player FPS.

Incredibly engaging visually, sometimes a little repetitive but overall very fun and without quite as many frustrating jump glitches/surface interaction issues I encountered in the first one. As long as your computer can handle whatever settings you're trying to run it on, the gameplay mechanics - movement, combat - are all really smooth and a great experience, even after just playing a few hours.

Great story line, introduced some fun new features and streamlined a few others...Not the best Far Cry, but that's a pretty damned high bar. 100% worth it, would recommend.
