For lack of a better phrase, HROT is a throwback FPS with a soul. That doesn't mean the game is a 10/10 masterpiece; The weapon feedback is a little lackluster, the level design is unpolished, and I can barely remember any of the music. But HROT makes up for those issues with how much it keeps the player on their toes. Enemies can be very lethal, to the point that only taking a few stray bullets will result in dying. That danger pairs really nicely with the level design, where the clearly Slavic urban inspirations get warped by all the key hunting and hidden nooks. The cherry on top is that HROT has an understated sense of humor, which makes the tense encounters and backtracking all the more enticing. This game isn't my go-to pick for anyone who wants a throwback FPS, but I will happily recommend it to anyone looking for something with a bit more flavor.

Mutant Mudds Deluxe is an acceptable bite-sized platformer. That's totally fine for a service that's lacking good games (see; the 3DS eShop circa 2012) or if you're in desperate need of another platformer, but on a more mature platform this game just comes up short. Even when comparing this game to other bite-sized platformers, it falls flat in one major department; The movement is lackluster. Alongside state transitions being pretty rigid, the movement speed is just a tad slower than it should be. The levels are clearly designed around the restrictions of that movement, with certain obstacles that are only difficult to overcome because of those limits. It's a shame, because the rest of the game is totally fine, bordering on good. The music is nice, the art is colorful, and the theming is fun. In my opinion the most important aspect of any platformer is gamefeel, and Mutant Mudds Deluxe just does not have that.

Donut County has a lot of charm in its premise, execution, and presentation style. It throws a bunch of unique mechanical, visual, and narrative quirks at you, which are just enough to make the experience of playing the game pop and stand out. For that alone, the game is worth playing, at least once.

The only problem is that it's a trick with diminishing returns. The seams of the game start to unravel themselves with further examination; several plot threads are ultimately pointless, every other mechanic is underutilized, and the core gameplay loop has a ton of interruptions. None of those things ultimately ruin the game, but they do bring down the game down to "Pretty Good" instead of "Really Great".

Summary: If the videos, screenshots, and general premise of this game interest you, then play it. Just know that you're not in for a mechanically extensive game and that you're better off only playing the game once.

System Protocol One is a simplistic tower-defence game. There's no over-arcing story or some never-before-seen new mechanic, but that's why I love it; the game throws out what it doesn't need and keeps what makes it great. The enemy and tower types are varied, the visuals are a great blend of hard edges of neon, and the music by 'Viral Culture' is spectacular. This is a great cool-down game, something to play in-between all of the major triple-A games that get released every year. If you just want a stylish tower-defence game that doesn't strain your brain, it's harder to do better than this.
