None of the DLC is worth buying. As far as character packs go this is the worst. Daima is lame. If I hadn't made the mistake of getting the big dumb edition that includes it all then I'd have chosen to skip getting all of it. I will not be buying a "season 2" of content.

Oh and thanks for also throwing in an absolutely nothing character in "Shallot" with a stand alone update. I'm sure you guys were just being inundated with fan mail begging for that "literal who." Absolute disappoints, all of you.

If you're looking for books, First Edition is the only place in the city to find them.

Have you eaten at the Feedbag recently?

I try not to eat there, at least since the last time.

Me too.

Me too.

Heard any news from the other provinces?

Nothing I'd like to talk about.

Good day.

Fair well.

They say syndicates of wizards have led a boycott of imperial goods in the land of Altmer.

I'm through talking with you!

Edit: February 2025 - LOL "Reworking" a raider now means charging money for an active skill on the raider. Golden Frieza is an absolute joke. Nothing was "reworked" you just added a skill to Frieza's level 4. This game is dead to me.

Edit: January 2025 - Looks like the year will see very little content, a couple raider reworks, 1 new raider, a couple new skills, mostly balance changes. No new maps, an even greater focus on ranked for some reason. Nothing mentioned about the awful region locking and constantly failing matchmaking servers. Dark times are ahead.

Look, I enjoy this game but I can't recommend you buy it. I'll continue playing Breakers until it gets shut down (which probably isn't too far off) but you have to know that it is very limited on available players to be matched with.

There is a region matchmaking system, I can only play with players on the east coast of the US and there aren't too many left. You will see similar people over and over, there are a few premade groups running meta skills and sometimes they purposely down rank themselves to pick on newer raiders. The gacha skills are, of course, luck of the draw and there are some that are very powerful. If you missed past seasons (like me) you missed out on some of the best meta skills/passives that you don't have an opportunity to get unless they do a special limited board. The resources required to do skill draws are too expensive given how long it takes to match up for a game so that is supposed to push people to buy microtransactions.

Just don't buy this game unless you've seen people play it and you REALLY liked the gameplay loop. I got it for about $7.50 USD and I'd say I've got my fun out of it.

If you buy this game thinking you're getting a Soulslike, a Witcher 3 or a Skyrim then you've been misinformed and you're buying the wrong game. This game is purely Dragon's Dogma. It's a unique series, play the first one since it regularly goes on sale for like $5. If you hate the systems from the first game then you'd hate them here. This game wasn't made for you. Find something else, save your money, go away.

Since that's out of the way, let's start reviewing. The performance is demanding, especially on the CPU. I have no idea how or if they'll address that. My 5800X3D does its best but the first main city of Vernworth just kills the framerate (from solid 60 everywhere else down to 40s at moments here) and it stutters very often. Outside of this area the game runs fine for me. I lock it at 60, turn a few settings to med/high, and enjoy the game. I've had 1 crash in my 76 hours of game time but maybe I'm just lucky.

The world is bigger, there's more stuff in it and I loved exploring what I did. There's still a bit I didn't get to see and will do so on following playthroughs. The combat system is just so damn good feeling. I have no idea where complaints from series veterans are coming from. The mage and sorcerer have never been more fun than they are here, even with sorcerer's best spells reserved as unlockable Maister skills. Splitting the Strider vocation is the best thing they did, instead of having vocations that largely overlap, strider/ranger/assassin, they focus on making thief and archer feel different from one another, they are actually unique and the game is better for it. Warrior is a beast and I recommend everyone have one in their party at all times.

The story is absolutely better in 2 but it's delivered in a manner similarly as 1. There's more to it but it isn't the focus, they want you out killing big monsters and that's fine by me. There's interesting concepts, some things get expanded on a little, some feel like an afterthought especially once you get to the main city in the southern area. Some side quests have different outcomes based on your choices but don't expect anything world changing. There are some plot holes, not everything is explained and I understand and accept the criticisms. If they make another game, which I doubt given the unnecessarily harsh reaction to this one, then they need to maybe let someone write a more coherent plot. Even though I still liked it, the pacing could be better. My first playthrough took just under 74 hours according to the stat the game gave me after the credits. I didn't blitz the story quests mind you, I was busy playing the best part of the game, exploration/monster hunting.

Some mechanics are a step back. The detection for climbing on/over small objects is too sensitive. You can't sell/enhance items from storage anymore so you have to run back and forth. It's a downgrade. They left out a new game option at launch, why(?) I don't know. Having multiple save files would be nice even if it were just 2 or 3, just make pawns account bound. You can already see people's usernames, just make it so you can't cheese the game with only your own pawns rented between your characters. Not a huge deal but would be nice. Don't care about or want co-op. It's single player, deal with it.

The Microtransactions are a nothing-burger. They shouldn't be there, I agree. They aren't "pay to win" and any YouTube grifter harping on this to get clicks and revenue is clueless. You get everything in-game and not very far into it. They are pointless and it's probably designed to be that way. I imagine the devs didn't want them but the suits at Capcom demanded it. Just like they have been doing with Monster Hunter and Resident Evil which everyone gives a pass. Weird that. Get over it, don't buy them, send a letter to Capcom complaining or something, and just play the game.

Overall this game will be my personal GOTY. There isn't much this year I care about and I'm not giving a Dragon Ball game (Sparking 0) GOTY since we know it'll be mid but us Dragon Ball fans will get it and love it because that's who we are. I don't like many games, I don't buy consoles anymore, and I hate Square-Enix so FF7 Demake Part 2: Nomura's Afterbirth can suck a fat one.

8.5/10 Will be playing for years to come.

Finally got around to finishing this Royal version of P5. I like it but I think I prefer the original P5. The Royal version does add new confidants, a palace and mementos content but some of the other additions just feel like they overstuffed it. A lot of new confidant specific abilities trivialize a bunch of the game. I don't know, I just prefer the original. Royal isn't bad and most people reading this probably haven't played the original so whatever. If you want a story focused turn based JRPG this is a good one.

Best soundtrack from a Persona game, by far.

The most frustrating thing about P5 is the localization. Weird pronunciations of Japanese names/words and the weirdest part is that Atlus Japan told them to say things that way to "westernize" it. Stop it. P3 and P4 were great, yes, especially with the honorifics. It made the series stand out and it was charming.

I couldn't finish it, made it over half way, but I gave it a chance. I hate the retconned lore. This just isn't Halo.

It's fine. The story takes place in the city from Halo 2 right after the Prophet's ship slipspace jumps to escape the ass kicking Chief just gave them.

You play as a squad of ODST members, the soldiers in black that drop using the pods, in their personal stories culminating in a merger of the storylines that results in a nice, contained side story in the Halo universe.
