Fred was born in Norway to a well-structured and stable family. His childhood was unremarkable—normal, even idyllic. He entered the academy at an early age and quickly demonstrated that his IQ was far above average. His genius led to a career at Arcanum, where he became one of the top engineers designing the C-12 models. He loved robots, seeing them as the future of humanity.

That all changed when one of his own creations, a C-12, killed his wife. In a rage, Fred crushed the robot's head until it was a heap of metal and circuitry. Arcanum labeled the incident a 'system failure', brushing it aside, but Fred couldn’t let go of the trauma. He began to question humanity's relentless drive for advancement and trust in machines.

Fred eventually snapped. Rather than resigning from Arcanum, he suspected a director had become possessed by the Antichrist. Knowing that Arcanum wouldn’t let him leave without consequences, he planted several IED's throughout the director's building, targeting key individuals he believed were corrupted.

The resulting explosion killed half the staff, and the 'Arcanbomber Incident' left a permanent mark on the valley. Fred disappeared without a trace, and Arcanum couldn’t locate him.

To maintain order and prevent panic among the residents of the Arcanum Black Valley, the company spread a carefully crafted lie, that Fred perished in the explosion that rocked the building. The narrative that Fred had died helped to calm the residents, ensuring that they didn't suspect he was still alive and hiding in the valley.

The valley, with its sprawling forests, dense foliage, and rugged terrain, was a perfect place for someone like Fred to disappear. Arcanum’s surveillance systems, despite their reach, were not omnipresent. The company could not control the entire area, especially in the deep, remote parts of the valley. Fred knew this, and it became his sanctuary.

During the early years, he lived off the land. Fred lived more closely with nature, he began to see just how artificial and hollow the world he had once worked to build truly was. The technology he had once worshipped now seemed like a corrupt, sickening thing. To Fred, it was no longer just a tool, it was the source of mankind’s greatest destruction.

When the AI went rogue, Fred was ready. He had foreseen the directors plans to use cybernecromancy to resurrect the CEO. Now, he fights alongside the survivors as an explosives expert. Having designed the C-12 models, Fred is the best at destroying them, and his intimate knowledge of Arcanum’s creations makes him an invaluable ally.
