The SM5-2 is a high performance nuclear thermal drive designed for use in military grade vessels. The second iteration of the Type 5 high performance nuclear thermal drive built for the Free Martian Republic Navy by Schmidt und Muller corporation's Starship Drive Solutions arm. It offers dramatically superior performance at mid range cost and mid range weight compared to last generation NTR drives.

The SM5-2 is a Nuclear Thermal Drive and is unsafe for use when unshielded, deliberate removal of drive shielding will void the warranty.
