Step 1: Laying A Foundation

Start by placing down the printer base pieces in a pattern as shown above. Small or Large doesn't matter but for consistency we're going to build using the large pieces only.

Please note you may or may not have the same amount of pieces as shown in this guide when building the 3D Modular Printer. However the process is the same, meaning if you only have one base piece then place down the one base piece and follow along with the rest of the guide. As the construction is the same.
Step 2: Barrel Slots And Power Sockets

Now add barrel slots and power sockets to the sides and rear of the printer base.
Step 3: Corners And Ramps

Now add corner pieces and the access ramp to the front.
Step 4: Upward

Now add access edges to the front and edges to the back of the printer then cap off with corner pieces.

Step 5: Enclose And Make A Box

Now place Access Edges across the top front and then Edges across the top sides and rear.

Step 6: Add Glass Panels, Ramps And Control Panel

Now enclose the sides and top with Glass, add Ramp Extensions to the front and the Control Panel onto any side. We put the control panel on the right for this build. We're almost there!
Step 7: Power up!

Build/Print an MMRTG or Solar Array, add a power cable and hook it all up. Now check the control panel and get printing!

Anyone tried using Glass as a foundation ?
I stumbled onto this recently.. I noticed glass can be attached to a foundation piece and then edge pieces can be connected to it on the other side...
Might save aluminum if you are low on that but high on Slicon Dioxide

just a little add to this.. you do NOT need to panel the rear of the printer, just remember to use access edge pieces and not normal edges and you do not need ramps on the rear section.

For anyone new to TKOM, this 3D printer can be created easily using the starting supplies. However, you will have to mine the last 25% of the materials. I would suggest going AFK for an hour after you have connected the solar panels to the battery correctly so that they can charge the battery and make the mining process less boring.

You can also use access edge for up to 2 sides, to save some SiO2.

That‘s may weird but works in TKOM. You can even build a printer over the ground. Build a vertical structure like a series of edge and remove all block under halfway, then put a corner block under it. Use access edge parts for the bottom side and keep rest as normal. Just remember, you can use resource input slot parts or power slot parts as a replacement of edge. when you do this, you will get everything printed drop off from the working space without removing it manually. A 3*3*1 printer should be able to print all large printer parts and drop them off. Additionally, you may even leave more space under the printer to stop a cargo transporter. So you can transport your building parts from printer to workplace easier.
what I did but I didn't leave enough space for a cargo transporter.

I think I'm just going to remove my guide on this subject - Mine is...much less detailed and not very good - Still it was better than nothing which was what we originally started with. It's one of the only guides I ever made to TKOM - and I tried to keep it up-to-date but seems like this one's better.

Wish I had this when I started, but I will share this guide with friends that are getting into TKOM!

Just had to go back to a previous save because I did not use the correct edges, wish I'd seen this before :steamfacepalm: Good guide.
