Tavern Cards Beginner's guide
By Mickmane
This is to help beginning players find Tavern Cards in the first two Portals.

Once you know how they look, when to look, and a few locations, finding them in other Portals should not be a problem.

There are also links to threads with more locations. I don't know how many more screenshots with all known locations I want to add as I get there, seeing how this should get you well on the way to knowing how to find them. :)

Step by step guide on how to find and collect the Tavern Cards.
1.) Go to the Tavern and hit 'find', then enter the Portal you are taken to. (If you have 2 or more portals, they alternate in having the cards, you may not yet know or remember where to start/continue.)

2.) Look at and/or click on the known spots to find out if a card is there. (Clicking on cards before they are visible will grab them. You won't get them after they have faded.)

2. a) If you are in a Portal without known locations, just look around, screenshots below show what they look like and how big they are. Some may look more faded than others.

2. b) There will be at most 1 card to be found right then and there.

3.) This should take no longer than 10 to 20 seconds.

4.) If you don't find a card, proceed to a different location in the same Portal, or exit and enter again. Repeat from step 2.

5.) If you did find a card, enter a different Portal and proceed from step 2. (I assume if you only have one Portal open, you can just enter that again.)

6.) Quoting Otter: "Also, if you happen to spot a card just before you exit the portal, don't bother going back. It will be gone." https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/545820/discussions/0/1471966894875263743/#c1471966894875492164

6. b) If you miss one like that, the Tavern will still point you to the same Portal, though. So go back and proceed from step 2 again.

7.) You can collect as many Tavern Cards as you like before actually playing the game. (Not sure if there's some internal maximum, I had over 40 so far.)
A note about the Memory game played with the Tavern Cards.
The item you match last will be your reward, so if you see anything you really want, try to make that the final match.

You're welcome and Have fun. :)

I gave up on this game years ago, too frustrating with monster spawns being random, and not what you need, for example. (Much unlike Lost Lands: A Hidden Object Adventure, where you'll get a spawn of exactly what you need when there isn't one wandering around anyway.)

Finally got around to playing this game, thanks for the guide.

Yes, layering, with Paint.net . But I don't think it's neccessary if your paint program leaves the copied part in the spot where it was copied, when putting it into another image.

The fading on some cards comes from making the screenshot not fast enough. :)

Want me to throw you a friend request? (Maybe chat more later then, when I'm awake. :) )

Yeah! By the way, can you please share with me how you merge all the cards into one photo? Layering, right? Because the cards were fading away, argh! So hard to put them together. Yours were edited so nicely!
Mickmane  [author] 12 Oct, 2017 @ 2:16am
Cheekiyaya, oh nice! :)

I think I just need a link to the Steam screenshot, like for example:
https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/849344485819025959/DB96A7AC6765AFC7C811DD68D2B65E3A36F459BC/

You get that when you shift-click or middle mouse click on a normal screenshot. Example links:

https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/id/Mickmane/screenshot/849344485819025959

I edited them, adding cards and circles, before uploading. I did 2 colour circles for best contrast with any background.

hI @Mickmane, I would like to add into your guide for other portals..are you alright with it? If you are, please let me know how I can pass it to you. Am still compiling actually :D
Mickmane  [author] 3 Oct, 2017 @ 10:52am
If you have 2 portals open, they alternate. With more, I don't know, maybe there's a pattern, order that it follows that you can keep in mind.

Oops, sorry my bad, confused up certain facts, heh. Well, I just tested out again..seems to work, found 4 cards now, all in different portals.. but you literally need to enter, find, exit and go to Tavern to "enquire" if the spot has changed. Then enter to the shown spot, repeat steps.
