WayPoints
As of the July 2017 game play update it is now possible to place waypoints on roads and add them into routes to help you ensure that your buses and trucks use the roads you want them to and hopefully not get diverted when the game changes the road layout!

Find them under the 'Roads' menu, click the little 'pin' icon and place them on whichever side of the road you need.

Then add them into a route just like any bus stop or cargo station.

Selecting Terminals on a Route
On any size passenger or cargo station you can select which 'platform' or 'terminal' the vehicles will stop at to load or unload.

Open up the route details, select the stop at which you want to change platform/terminal usage and click the little numbered 'road' symbol. All available terminal numbers will be shown on a drop-down menu and also highlighted in the station itself so you can see exactly where each platform/terminal is.

Simply click the number you wish to use for this route.

Note that all the routes calling at this stop will be automatically rearranged to spread the terminal usage as equally as possible.

To force multiple routes to use the same platform number, click the small padlock icon so that it shows white before you select the terminal number.

As you can see this can be used not only in the larger stations but also on bus stops!

The same mechanism is used to select platform usage at railway stations.
