Ok I think I know what happened. I might have placed it too near to the panel so that's why it got destroyed when I dropped the normal cube onto the button.

Thumbs up for this. Very nice and set me thinking. But what's with the Companion Cube doing there???

The chamber with laser and excursion funnel, I obtained the reflector cube, put the normal cube onto the button, and the reflector cube just literally vaporized... Is that suppose to happen or something..?
