Can't launch the game, due to the 0xc0000022 error?

Hi, and welcome to the guide.

If you are reading this, it probably means you are having trouble launching this old gem of a game.

I was very frustrated that I could not launch the game, due to constantly getting a:
"0xc0000022" error, no matter what compatability mode I chose.

But after doing a quick google search, I found the solution (for me) at least !

The Solution

Here is the solution:

Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off -> Checkmark the Legacy Components (DirectPlay).

And there we go, now go get those 10000 troops on the field, and go crazy ! :)

I always set mine to compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. Never had one issue since then. Even with 1080p. I dont go anywhere above that as I know it will crash if its 2048 display.

May have found a solution, dont know if you guys tried this:
Go into the games folder, and find the dmcr.exe and go into it's properties. Then under compatibility put it into Windows 7 mode, checked run this as admin, and enabled the game to work with OneDrive files. Apply (and pray)
