Perhaps no man contributed to the foundation of the modern Junior Heavyweight style than Satoru Sayama. Taking a path that many after him would follow, Sayama started in New Japan and traveled around the world, learning techniques in England and Mexico to round out his style. Sayama's career truly took off when he was given the role of Tiger Mask, a comic book character.

Tiger Mask would have famous feuds with the Dynamite Kid, the original Black Tiger and Kuniaki Kobayashi, and win both the WWF and NWA Junior Heavyweight titles at the same time. Sayama's legacy did not only lie in his own accomplishments, but also in the strength of the Tiger Mask legacy that has been passed along multiple generations since.

Sayama's style blended flawless suplexes, graceful aerial attacks, aglile kicks, all delivered with breathtaking speed.
