Tips
1. Don't try to take all ship weapons at start. You ll always confuse changing them. It is possible to complete first 1-5 leves using only plasma weapon.
2. Open Dark Matter Bomb as soon as possible. Use it constantly on cooldown.
3. When you ll have enough techology points unlearn plasma tree and spend 3 points to Missiles and 2 to Bomb (the 3th point in bomb gives small bonus). So, use bombs attacking ground and missiles for air enemies.
4. Laser is hard to use it. Also, i have noticed he doesn't gives so much advantage. I preferred to kill ground with bombs and air with missiles. I used it only in three situations 1) when 2-3 heavy mammoth tanks left 2) for air bombers. Laser kills it in 6 seconds, missiles in 7-8 seconds, no so much deal 3) with bosses

5. Your first free upgrade point should be spent on "Debris collector"
5a. Use Debris collector as much as possible. If you use it often it could give you extra 3-7 towers per mission. Be aware, debris are disseappearing after ~20-30s
6. Second point spend for "Core weapon". It will make defence much more easier.
7. Then upgrade Debris collector.
8. Then research Defensive drone.
9. Other upgrades are optional and don't gives huge bonuses.

10. Basic tower is useless. Try to upgrade it as soon as possible. Mass artillery for ground purposes until Laser comes. Try to place Artillery towers that way they could hit 2 different paths of enemies.
10a. Use 75% Laser and 25% Artillery towers at the late games.
10b. Always place towers for air waves. Sometimes 1 tower is enough to destroy all wave and you don't need to waste your time .
Use 2-3 Air Laser towers for Bombers and Heavy Helicopters waves. Air missiles for all other purposes. Stop using Anti Air Flak tower after researching better antiair towers

11. Destroy buildings using Dark Matter bombs to increase the path.
12. You can destroy trees, trains and other stuff to clean the area for towers.
13. Don't destroy the bridges first. Sometimes they are nesseasary for buildings the longest path.
14. Enemies paths are always changing. Be aware and sell towers which are getting useless.
15. Sometimes, it is very useful to sell antiair tower during the wave when all air forces has been wiped out (usually, they comes in the start ot at the end of mission) anmd build new ground towers.
16. Complete side missions. Upgrade points are necessary.
17. Destroy healers manually as soon as possible.
18. Dont waste yourt time on anti air enemy forces if you have anti air towers. Just move to them while attacking ground units.

19. There were 2 difficult missions: Russia and Japan.
For Russia, you need Anti Air Laser towers to deal with Heavy Helicopters. Also, destroy the forest to the left to clean an area for towers.
Also, you can make a huge circle maze for all enemy paths.
The most difficult wave is 5th. The 6 and 7 waves are boss waves and they are extremely easy

19a. For Japan.
Use 2-3 Anti Air Laser towers when you are fighting with boss.
While Boss is sleeping, try to weak enemies ground waves destroying healers and the heavy tanks. 4-5 Laser tower at each paths should handle the rest.
Use 3 Anti Air Laser towers for both air paths at the 2th wave.
Use 4 Anti Air Laser Towers in the air path at the 3th wave. Ground forces for 3th wave are heavy. But it is much more easier to win it by killing boss before the ground units comes to the core.

Don't destroy building at the Boss path before red boss line appear, because he will move through them then.

Nice Rurik, I am also playing your game Age of Defense! Nice to see you creating a guide for this game :)

Thanks, I wish I read it before I started this game
After 12 hours put in on easy difficulty I learned most of those tips already
Normal diff seems too rough for me but if i was aware of things like debris importance or how bad regular towers were, maybe I wouldnt struggle and continue game on normal.
However I disagree about lasers, I find it super efficient against everything and use it most of time
And I realised as soon as more tools and towers unlocked, things were generally easier
This is why I found early missions like Germany or Australia way harder than following and mentioned Russia

Would like to see such tips but for both of the DLC campaigns

Plasma is far from useless until you hit shield tanks, and by then you should ideally have a complete maze.

Two basic turrets nearly wipe a car collumn with just 2-3 getting through on almost no health. A laser will kill a car and let 4 through. An arty will miss at least a third of them. A flamethrower will only kill a couple and deal significant damage to the rest.

Three basic turrets will wipe the collumn and start forming a maze. A flame arty will leave the same stragglers on same hp that 2 turrets did if not more. A railgun will probably be too slow to deal with all of them.
Not sure about a thumper, never really had a chance to justify trading 2 turrets to place one, but I'd guess it's fast enough to get rid of all of them - but again, it's almost the entire canada park's length of wall for one thumper.

Same two turrets also happen to be able to get rid of singular whams, allowing you to not waste time on flying all over the map to kill single priority targets.

Good guide for a first playthrough. I also focused bombs and missiles. After the story when going up in difficulty you learn the use of the plasma weapon(nearly instant charge from catching enemy bullets on the shield, and no cooldown on use). It's a quick and effective tool for taking out Jeep columns. A nice 1-2 punch against heavy tank columns is to open with a Dark Matter Bomb, charge a Singularity behind it to catch smaller forces and their bullets, then fire the Laser to punch through heavy tank armor(it'll be weakened from the Dark Matter Bomb). If you can spare it, setting up a hairpin turn with laser fences that has a Shockwave tower in the middle will maximize its use. Also, the USA mission, spam those Laser Towers or else wave 6 will see your Core overrun.

flame towers hurt weak units over time but shockwave tower does a lot better job and messes up groups.

Okay, I actually just tried to play the game with mouse and keyboard, I had been playing with an Xbox One controller so far... Conclusion: Bombs suck... with a controller! With the controller the bombs always land a set distance away from your ship while with the mouse you can drop them WAY farther and exactly where you want. I guess I might try to get used to M+K controlls though it feels much less intuitive to me as the shooter part otherwise handles pretty much like a twin stick shooter.

I really don't like the bombs myself... you have to be close to your target, buildings get in the way, and they really don't seem to so well on damage? I very much prefer the plasma charge. It protects you while charging and if you catch a lot of damage with the shield it charges really fast. With a lot of incoming fire it definitely outperforms bombs by a large margin. It's also much easier to take out a healer for instance without having to get so close that you get massacred by their friends. I haven't finished the game yet so maybe it will change later on? But I was actually thinking bombs are underperforming and I wouldn't even have them if I didn't need them to bring down buildings.

As for flame towers, they are also pretty good at taking out large swarms of small vehicles. I've had entire waves of them die on 2 or 3 flame towers I had set up by my core in the UK level so I could just focus on the heavies.
