Description
OBOW: Pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument), it stands for "Overseer's Balance Overhaul for Weapons".

This is a script (JUST a script) that changes the Desert Eagle into a fast 6-shot revolver. I am aware that this has been done before, but I couldn't find one that turned it into a quick-firing gunslinger-ish weapon while still maintaining gameplay. They either fired too slow, did too little damage, reloaded too slowly, or did so much damage that they broke the game balance. So, this is my spin on it.

It'll fire fast enough that you can use it for quick bursts of very high damage, reload fast enough to be practical and not tedious, pierce enough Commons to maintain its place for decent horde-busting, and it'll be more accurate both on the move and when stationary/crouching so you can feel like a deadeye.

Using this with ultimate gravity mod v.4 is very fun. And this mod is very easy to use if you know how to count round in the chamber in stressful situations.:steamhappy:

I have no idea. It just seems to work sometimes, and with some skins, and not with others. :/

It probably involes negative values or something along that line where it finishes up but it's told that it should still be playing so the excess time get tacked up and reverses the animation by an amount to fill in the time.

@Artyom:
True. I can understand if an animation gets bugged out because the reload duration is longer than the animation itself, but it bugs in L4D2 when the reload duration is shorter. Sometimes the animation just speeds up smoothly to fit into the shorter timeframe, but other times, it speeds up too much and finishes too early, then replays the last bit of the reload again before finishing. It's really odd.

Depends on much the animation can be stretched out. The more frames the animation has the longer it can be stretched out. It is complicated.

In other source games, this is true. But in Left 4 Dead 2, I can change the reload speed. However, there seems to be an issue on some guns when the reload speed is increased, where the gun will finish its animation and then repeat the last 10% or so again before finishing. Clearly, reload speeds were never meant to be edited in this game, but I can still get away with it, because sometimes the animation bug just doesn't happen with some weapons. I also noticed that the animation bug happened with one skin I was using, but not different skin. So yeah, complicated.

I don’t think you can script the reload speed. It’s determined by the animation length.

@Alex Stargazer:
Really? Hmm... If it had an 8-round clip, it wouldn't really be a revolver anymore, would it? But I'll take a look into the reload speed next time I use this and see if I can maybe speed it up a bit.
